Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26, 2025, the semi-high-speed train began regular operations on May 27, 2025. It is being maintained and operated by the Western Railway (WR) zone. Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Route Currently, the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express runs via Viramgam-Surendranagar-Rajkot-Jetalsar-Junagarh. In a letter issued to Western Railway on June 8, 2026, the Railway Board stated: “Ministry of Railways desires that 26901/26902 Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express should be operated via Botad-Jetalsar-Junagarh instead of its existing route via Viramgam-Surendranagar-Rajkot-Jetalsar-Junagarh.” It also directed the zonal railway to implement the revised route from the commencement of the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) or the no-booking date, whichever is earlier. Chennai, The Southern Railway on Sunday highlighted its achievements from last financial year, which was marked by major expansion of services across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka The expansion included the rollout of 23 new train services originating from or terminating in Tamil Nadu alone, alongside 14 in Kerala and five in Karnataka, with several shared services benefiting more than one state. The campaign, launched on May 15 across Central Railway’s five divisions, has involved railway staff, passengers, vendors, NGOs and schoolchildren through seminars, workshops, street plays, awareness rallies and inspections at railway premises. “Central Railway remains committed to sustainable infrastructure reforms and appeals to passengers to actively support efforts to keep railway premises free of single-use plastics,” said Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway. As part of the initiative, Mumbai Division carried out checks at station vendor stalls to reinforce the ban on single-use plastics and encouraged vendors to switch to biodegradable alternatives. Public announcement systems at stations were also used to advise commuters to carry reusable water bottles instead of purchasing packaged water bottles. Three suspects, including a woman, were detained and the police said they were probing whether trafficking was the motive behind abduction. According to police, the incident occurred at around 9.15 pm on Saturday near Datta Mandir in the Pune railway station area. The family were sleeping in an open space along with their one-year-old daughter when unidentified persons kidnapped the child.
