The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has projected the priority sector credit potential of ₹4.88 lakh crore for 2026-27 in Rajasthan. The State Focus Paper (SFP), revealing the district-wise realistic potential in both physical and financial terms, was launched in Jaipur on Friday (February 13, 2026). Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will visit the revered Karni Mata Temple in Deshnok in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, and is likely to deliver a significant message from the spiritual land of Maa Karni. This is his first visit to Rajasthan following India’s attack on terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7. During the visit, PM Modi will inaugurate 103 Amrit Stations nationwide, including the newly developed Deshnok Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Yojana. The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Rajasthan High Court’s direction to BJP MLA Kanwarlal Meena asking him to “surrender immediately” in connection with a 2005 case in which he was convicted of threatening a government official with a revolver. A bench of SC Justice Satish Chandra Sharma gave the direction while hearing a Special Leave Petition by Meena, who was represented by Namit Saxena in the top court. The development came on a day when a delegation led by Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully met Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani demanding that the MLA’s membership be terminated. The HC upheld his 2020 conviction and sentence handed down by an appellate court. Jaipur: Three men were allegedly burnt alive after their motorcycle came in contact with a broken high-tension wire in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district on Sunday, police said. The incident took place on the Mundiyad-Kadlu road in Khinvsar, when Pitharam Devasi, Kaluram Devasi, and Jetharam Devasi were en route to Kadlu village, they said. A live wire was lying on the road, and as soon as the motorcycle passed over it, an electric current surged through the vehicle, causing it to catch fire. The three men were burnt alive, and the bike was completely destroyed, they added. Locals alerted the electricity department and police, following which the power supply was cut off. Residents expressed anger, alleging negligence by electricity department officials. Meanwhile, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal demanded compensation of Rs 15 lakh each for the families of the victims. “Despite crores of rupees being spent on the maintenance of electric lines, high-tension wires are still lying on the ground, due to which three people died today,” he wrote in a post on X. Jaipur: A 40-year-old woman jumped from the second floor of a hospital in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district on Sunday after being shocked by the death of her son, police said. Rekha Lohar, sustained serious injuries to her hands, legs, and head and is undergoing treatment in the ICU of the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer, they said. The incident occurred in the Kotwali area after Lohar’s 18-year-old son, Yogesh Kumar, who was undergoing treatment at the hospital, died, a police officer said. Station House Officer Dinesh Kumar said Yogesh had accidentally consumed some medicine on Thursday, leading to a deterioration in his health. He had been undergoing treatment for four days but succumbed on Sunday. Upon hearing about her son’s death, the woman was shocked and attempted to kill herself, the officer said. Jaisalmer: A 30-year-old bridegroom, who was gifted Rs 5,51,000 as dowry amid wedding rituals, returned the money to the bride’s family soon after the ceremony, earning widespread praise among relatives and villagers in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. Paramveer Rathore, a civil services aspirant, got married to Nikita Bhati at a small village named Karaliya on February 14. As Mr Rathore arrived for the wedding on horseback, amidst the beats of dhols and celebrations, he was accorded a grand welcome by the bride’s family. The “tilak” ceremony soon began, and the groom was showered with gifts by his to-be in-laws. In a tragic incident, a five-year-old boy died after falling into a 100-foot-deep well while he was playing outside his home in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district, the police said Friday. The incident happened in Derna village on Thursday night when Ravi fell into the well. After receiving the information, administrative officials reached the spot with the rescue team, Aburoad Sadar SHO Darshan Singh said. The rescue team brought the boy out of the well within two hours of operations. However, after being taken to a hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem, Singh added.
