Rajasthan police rescue 15 girls, arrest 11 after busting child trafficking gang

Police in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar have rescued 15 girls and arrested 11 people, including three brokers from Mumbai, days after busting a child trafficking gang. Police said brokers pocketed most of the money earned from trafficking. (X) Jhalawar police superintendent Amit Kumar said that 10 girls were rescued last Friday, and that they found bank transactions among the brokers related to the trafficking. “Their properties and bank details are being checked,” Kumar said. Kumar said police raids forced the traffickers to hand over some of the girls to their families. He added that the accused have been booked under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Kumar said the gang targeted poor, indebted families, primarily from the Kanjar community, and purchased girls by promising jobs and financial assistance for their daughters. “The children were to be kept under the gang’s control until they turned 11, after which they were to be sold for prostitution in cities such as Mumbai,” he said. “Most of the rescued girls are aged between four and five.” Police said brokers pocketed most of …

3 min readJaipurUpdated: Jun 9, 2026 11:35 PM IST The Health Department has sought a detailed report from Prince Bijay Singh Memorial (PBM) Hospital in Rajasthan’s Bikaner after four women who recently gave birth are undergoing treatment there for serious health complications, raising fresh concerns weeks after several women died after giving birth at government hospitals in Kota. The Rajasthan government has, however, maintained that the Bikaner cases are unrelated to the Kota incident. Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar on Tuesday said the women in Bikaner were admitted at different times and had varying medical conditions. “Four patients are in serious condition. [One of them] is on ventilator support, but she had pre-existing kidney problems and was admitted to the hospital on May 15 due to complications before delivery. Unlike Kota, where all the affected women had undergone Caesarean sections, two of the Bikaner patients had normal deliveries. We are gathering more information, but at present there is no indication that the two incidents are linked,” Khimsar said. The minister added that he has directed …

This palace in Rajasthan has been underwater for 200 years

3 min readNew DelhiJun 8, 2026 01:00 AM IST A palace in the middle of a lake is rare, but one with four floors underwater is even rarer. For more than 200 years, Jal Mahal has been one of Rajasthan’s most extraordinary landmarks. Originally built in 1699 and reconstructed in 1745, the palace stands today as a monument to the finest Indo-Saracenic architecture, a repository of Rajasthan’s history. Tracing the history According to the Incredible India official website, Jal Mahal‘s name comes from its stunning location in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, which translates to “Water Palace.” Contrary to what you might believe, the palace does not float on water. Instead, the building remains submerged beneath the water’s surface, with only its top floor visible — giving the illusion of emerging from the lake. The website further reveals that back in 1699, the foundation of this magnificent palace was laid. A few years later, during the 18th century, His Highness Jai Singh II renovated the property and decorated the palace and the lake. Today, it …
