Maaya Rajeshwaran’s dream run ends in semifinals
Fifteen-year-old Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi saw her impressive run at the L&T Mumbai Open 2025 WTA 125 come to an end in the semifinals, as she fell to fifth seed Jill Teichmann in straight sets, 3-6, 1-6, on Saturday. Despite the loss, the young Indian sensation captured attention with her fearless performances throughout the tournament, marking herself as a rising star in Indian tennis. A wild card entrant in qualifying, Maaya was playing only her fifth professional event and entered the tournament unranked on the WTA circuit. However, she stunned the field with wins over Iryna Shymanovich, former Top 50 player Zarina Diyas, and Japan’s Mei Yamaguchi to book a place in the semifinals.
