Indian para-athletes will have their task cut out on Day 4 of the Summer Paralympics in Paris, with action-packed events in shooting, archery, badminton, and athletics. In badminton, there’s a busy schedule with quarterfinals and semifinals in the Men’s and Women’s Singles in the SL3, SL4, and SU5 categories. A highlight will be the all-Indian semifinal between Suhas Yathiraj and Sukant Kadam in the SL4 category. In compound para-archery, Rakesh Kumar will aim for a medal, with the medal matches scheduled for today. Rakesh Kumar clinches gold medal

Rakesh Kumar successfully defended his gold medal in the men’s compound category at the 8th Fazza Para Archery World Ranking Tournament in Dubai on Thursday. Indian contingent missed out on any quota from the event by grabbing three medals. Rakesh continues his excellent streak of 145+ scores to clinch this gold medal match (147-143) against Indonesian youngster Ken Swagumilang. He started the match with a perfect ten to show his momentum and form in the tournament. He didn’t give any opportunity to the youngster and confirmed his back-to-back win over Ken after shooting more than 28 in each of the five ends. Rakesh Kumar, ranked second in the world recovers a big deficit of three points at the end of the three rounds to topple (145-143) the world no.3, Kevin Polish of USA in the semis. Sheetal Devi back in action to lead Indian contingent

Indian para-archers are ready to kick start their season in a tough field at the eighth Fazza Para Archery World Ranking Tournament in Dubai, UAE, from March 3 to 7. Star players like Sheetal Devi, Rakesh Kumar and Harvinder Singh will lead the 14-member Indian contingent for the first ranking tournament of the year in the run-up to the 2024 Paris Paralympics. The event will also serve as a final World Qualification Tournament for the Paris Paralympics. The finalists in all six individual categories at the final qualification tournament will secure a quota place each for their countries. India already has won six quota places for the event with four of them coming in the compound event, while it won one each in the recurve events. Indian shooters will be aiming to add a few more quota places from the Dubai event.
