Dismissing Uttar Pradesh (UP) Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar’s claim of an impending split in the Samajwadi Party (SP), Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the party remained strong and it was the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which had a history of “engineering” defections through inducements and pressure, news agency PTI reported. Responding to a query at a presser on possible discontent within the SP, Yadav, its chief, said the BJP previously succeeded in breaking several parties, including taking away legislators and leaders from his party. New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav’s “distorted casteist thinking”, after the latter said Colonel Sofiya Qureshi was targeted by a BJP minister as she is a Muslim but Wing Commander Vyomika Singh was spared thinking she was Rajput. Both Colonel Qureshi and Wing Commander Singh have addressed multiple pressers on Operation Sindoor, giving details on India’s military action on terror bases in Pakistan since May 7. AS A BJP Madhya Pradesh minister faces an FIR over his remarks directed at one of the woman officers who held daily briefings on Operation Sindoor, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has now waded into a row, speaking at length about the castes of other officers who were part of the briefings on the Operation, in seeking to attack the BJP. Had the BJP known about the castes of Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Air Marshal A K Bharti, Yadav said, it would have “abused” them too, like Qureshi. Addressing a gathering of partymen in Moradabad Thursday, Yadav, the SP national general secretary and a Rajya Sabha MP, questioned the BJP over its Tiranga Yatras on Operation Sindoor, and said: “They can do anything for elections… What is the need for this?
