A 10-day atonement and purification ritual undertaken at the Ram temple in Ayodhya following allegations of donation embezzlement concluded with a purnahuti (final offering) ceremony, temple trustee Mahant Dinendra Das said. The ritual, which began on July 15, was organised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to restore the sanctity of the temple premises after the alleged theft of devotees’ offerings came to light. Ritual concludes with purnahuti ceremony According to Mahant Dinendra Das, the concluding ceremony included a havan and special worship conducted in the temple’s yagyashala under the guidance of Vedic scholars. Trustee Mahant Dinendra Das and trustee Krishna Mohan participated as yajmans, offering ahutis during the final ritual. A community feast was also organised, during which local Brahmins were served food. Das said around 70 Vedic acharyas from Ayodhya and other parts of the country participated in the 10-day ceremony. Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday said the Opposition would oppose the proposed Delimitation Bill in its current form but could reconsider its stand if the Centre accepts amendments suggested by Opposition parties. Speaking to reporters in Nagpur ahead of the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s ‘Ram Raksha Andolan’ scheduled for July 18, Raut said the Opposition INDIA bloc would take a collective decision once the legislation is formally introduced in Parliament. The Centre is expected to introduce the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, beginning July 20. The proposed legislation seeks to increase the strength of the Lok Sabha to 850 seats and initiate a fresh delimitation exercise. SC declines urgent hearing on PIL over Ram Temple donations

The Supreme Court on Monday declined an urgent hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a court-monitored probe and forensic audit into the handling of donations and offerings received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over alleged financial irregularities linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.  When the matter was mentioned before a Bench of Justices M.M.  Sundresh and Sheel Nagu, the PIL litigant pressed for an urgent listing, saying the allegations raised in the plea were “very serious” and expressing apprehensions over the manner in which the state government was dealing with the matter. Questioning the urgency, the Justice Sundresh-led Bench asked, “What’s the urgency?” before directing that the plea be listed immediately after the court reopens post-summer vacation. The writ petition, filed by advocate Narendra Kumar Goswami in his personal capacity, seeks directions for the preservation of records and evidence relating to donations made at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple and greater transparency in the administration of temple offerings. All eight people named in the first information report (FIR) in connection with the alleged embezzlement of donations and offerings at the Ram temple in Ayodhya have been arrested, even as Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and trust member Anil Mishra stepped down from their positions. The arrests followed the registration of an FIR based on a complaint filed by Shri Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, alleging irregularities in the handling of donations and offerings at the temple, news agency IANS reported.
