The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday voiced confidence that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged embezzlement of donations at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple “will reach a turning point”, during the conclusion of its annual ‘Akhil Bharatiya Pranth Pracharak’ meeting in Karnataka’s Belagavi.  The top RSS leadership also expressed “deep anguish” over the alleged financial irregularities in the counting of offerings from the Ram temple’s donation boxes. Congress leader KC Venugopal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a Supreme Court- monitored investigation into allegations of irregularities in the Ram Temple donation collections. He referred to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to look into matter and said its actions so far “are an eyewash” clearly designed to shield the “big fish”. Ram Temple donation irregularities: SIT gets 15-day extension as probe expands

The Uttar Pradesh government has granted a 15-day extension until July 15 to the three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged irregularities in the Ram Temple donation collections. Officials said investigators have additional time to expand the probe beyond the eight arrested accused and determine whether systemic failures, procedural violations and institutional negligence enabled the alleged embezzlement. The government has directed the SIT to submit its report by July 15. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath approved the extension after the SIT sought more time to complete a comprehensive investigation before submitting its final report. “The government directed the team to submit its report by July 15,” an official said. Lucknow divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, inspector general (Lucknow Range) Kiran S, and special secretary (finance) Neel Ratan, the three members of the SIT, are expected to return to Ayodhya to examine how cash offerings moved from donation boxes to bank deposits and fix accountability at every stage. SC declines urgent hearing on PIL over Ram Temple donations

The Supreme Court on Monday declined an urgent hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a court-monitored probe and forensic audit into the handling of donations and offerings received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over alleged financial irregularities linked to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.  When the matter was mentioned before a Bench of Justices M.M.  Sundresh and Sheel Nagu, the PIL litigant pressed for an urgent listing, saying the allegations raised in the plea were “very serious” and expressing apprehensions over the manner in which the state government was dealing with the matter. Questioning the urgency, the Justice Sundresh-led Bench asked, “What’s the urgency?” before directing that the plea be listed immediately after the court reopens post-summer vacation. The writ petition, filed by advocate Narendra Kumar Goswami in his personal capacity, seeks directions for the preservation of records and evidence relating to donations made at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple and greater transparency in the administration of temple offerings. All eight people named in the first information report (FIR) in connection with the alleged embezzlement of donations and offerings at the Ram temple in Ayodhya have been arrested, even as Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and trust member Anil Mishra stepped down from their positions. The arrests followed the registration of an FIR based on a complaint filed by Shri Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, alleging irregularities in the handling of donations and offerings at the temple, news agency IANS reported.
