K.V. Ramakrishnan wins Asan Memorial Poetry Award 2025

Renowned poet K.V. Ramakrishnan has been selected for the Asan Memorial Poetry Award 2025, instituted by Chennai’s Asan Memorial Association and bestowed annually for outstanding contributions to Malayalam poetry. Ramakrishnan’s selection came from a shortlist curated from nominations submitted by poetry enthusiasts and literary admirers. A jury comprising writers Thomas Mathew, P.V. Krishnan Nair, and K.S. Ravikumar unanimously chose him for the award. The jury praised his ability to harmoniously fuse the richness of tradition with a modern poetic consciousness, marking his work as both rooted and refreshingly innovative. The award carries a cash prize of fifty thousand rupees, a citation, and a specially designed sculpture by the acclaimed artist Achuthan Kudallur. The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place in Chennai in February 2026. The popular Netflix showNever Have I Ever – which she headlines – recently premiered its fourth and final season to great reviews. The show follows an Indian-origin American teenager Devi Vishwakumar through her final high school years in the aftermath of a personal tragedy. The comedy-drama is one of the most successful shows to feature a woman of colour in the lead role and has been praised for its South Asian representation.  The actress, along with co-stars Darren Barnet and Jaren Lewison, was in Brazil recently to promote the series at the Netflix Tudum event.
