Sourav Ganguly urges India selectors to bring Mohammed Shami back: ‘He looks fit and sharp’ | Cricket News

3 min readUpdated: Apr 8, 2026 08:21 PM IST Mohammed Shami seems to have carried forward the form he showed in domestic cricket into the Indian Premier League (IPL), with his early performances this season for the Lucknow Super Giants turning quite a few heads. Shami Shami boasts an economy of just 4.62 in the two matches that he has played for LSG thus far and has taken three wickets. He played a pivotal role in LSG’s first win of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said that his performances show that Shami deserves to be called back to the Indian team. “He should be bowling at the other end of (Jasprit) Bumrah, nowhere else. That’s how good he is. We all saw that spell the other night against Sunrisers Hyderabad — four overs, nine runs against two of the best T20 players, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. That was phenomenal,” Ganguly is quoted as saying by PTI. Shami was adjudged Player of the Match in the game against SRH …

No outstation teams in Buchi Babu and no outstation players in Chennai First Division: TNCA | Cricket News

3 min readApr 1, 2026 08:49 PM IST After a disastrous 2025-26 domestic season for the senior men’s team, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has pressed for drastic changes ahead of the next season. Key among them is that, going forward, no outstation player will be allowed to play in the TNCA First Division. This decision could impact several players like Jalaj Saxena, Harsh Dubey and Manav Suthar, among others, who may lose out on considerable income as well as the experience of playing in different conditions. For the TNCA First Division, two changes have been made. First, none of the corporate teams will be allowed to hire an outstation player for the upcoming season. “The outstation players do the heavy lifting, so we thought our players can use that opportunity,” Srinivasa Raj said. And all matches will be four-day fixtures. “Purpose of revamping is to make sure our preparations are in tune for the Ranji Trophy. Playing a three-day game is not helping us, because the fourth day is the one which actually …

How Auqib Nabi overcame father’s fears to become Ranji Trophy champion | Cricket News

Ghulam Nabi’s latent love for ‘Tendulkar Sir’ and ‘Captain Cool – Ganguly’ in the late 90s and early aughties might just have tilted the scales in favour of allowing his son Auqib – ‘Aqu’ – to continue in cricket. “Initially, I stopped him strictly,” he says. It helped that Ghulam’s mother and wife, Auqib’s grandmother and mother – were cricket fanatics. “My wife knows about playing styles of cricketers, whose names I’ve never even heard of!” says Ghulam, adding, “I used to be a good bowler too, but I stopped playing cricket after my marriage. Responsibilities take over.” A father of three, Ghulam works as a teacher in a government school. Even when Auqib was cleaning up Karun Nair, KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal on Day 3, his father was in a class at his secondary school in Shiri, 7 km down slope from Baramulla, and would watch video clips of his scalps later. “At middle school in 8th, Auqib was a zone topper at studies. I genuinely wanted all my children to go in …

Jammu and Kashmir win their first-ever Ranji Trophy title | Cricket News

1 min readFeb 28, 2026 02:18 PM IST Jammu and Kashmir have made history. Fast bowler Auqib Nabi’s stellar show with the ball, coupled with centuries from Shubham Pundir in the first innings and Qamran Iqbal in the second has helped them pip a star-studded Karnataka to 2025/26 Ranji Trophy title. It marks the first time that they have won India’s premier first class domestic title and marks a remarkable turnaround for a team that was rarely ever taken seriously as opponents by most teams for much of their 66-year history in the Ranji Trophy. Incidentally, it also happened to be the year that Karnataka won their third title. This 2025/26 final was their 346th match in Ranji history, and only their 47th match win. It brigs to an end a remarkable season in which they lost just one match, which came in Srinagar against Mumbai. To be updated… Disclaimer: …
