Bihar has ranked second in terms of RuPay card usage among beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). There are more than 4.98 crore RuPay cardholders in the State. However, the total number of PM Jan Dhan account holders in Bihar is 6.87 crore indicating that the number of RuPay cardholders is still lower than the total number of account holders. Bihar has the second-highest number of RuPay cardholders in the country after Uttar Pradesh, which has 7.16 crore cardholders. Bihar is followed by West Bengal with 3.76 crore users, Madhya Pradesh with 3.51 crore, and Maharashtra with 2.72 crore. These figures were released by the Union Ministry of Finance on July 23, 2026, which could be regarded as Bihar government’s significant accomplishments in the financial sector, thus reflecting the State’s growing adoption of digital banking and financial inclusion initiatives. Air India has ranked fourth among the world’s most punctual airlines in June 2026, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium, marking a significant operational milestone for the Tata Group-owned carrier. India’s ranking in the Global Passport Index (GPI) has slipped to 125th spot, one rank drop from last year, in the fifth annual edition published by residency and citizenship advisory firm Global Citizen Solutions (GCS). India is flanked by Namibia at the 124th spot and Azerbaijan at the 126th spot. The report ranks 197 countries, with nine European nations being among top 10.
