‘Knew what he was trying’: Priyansh Arya talks about how he targetted R Ashwin and his batting philosophy | Ipl News

‘Knew what he was trying’: Priyansh Arya talks about how he targetted R Ashwin and his batting philosophy | Ipl News

With a witty one-liner, uttered with an expressionless face, Priyansh Arya reveals his batting ethos: “Attacking batsmen hamesha out hothe tho woh bahut gandha hi lagta hain.” Attacking batsmen look ugly when they get out. He was not talking about the aesthetics of six-hitting, but his immunity to the criticisms that blow his way when the attacking strokes he lives by nails his end too. He clarifies: “Not just me, look at every attacking batsman. It’s part of the game, and I don’t think about failures, or whether this shot could get me out or not, when I am batting. I just watch the ball, and look to hit it,” he says. His thoughts, like his batting, have an irreducible simplicity. He only sees wide open spaces on the field, and a hard ball that will fly off the blade. So the first-ball duck against Rajasthan Royals didn’t inhibit him from hitting a first-ball six against Chennai Super Kings. Even the most enthusiastic IPL greenhorn would have exercised restraint the second time around. But why …

Obviously, it was not something hinted at any time in the preceding weeks. However, what …

IND vs NZ: As Jadeja-Ashwin endure rare below-par home series, India’s overdependence on their matchwinners is ever so clear | Cricket News

IND vs NZ: As Jadeja-Ashwin endure rare below-par home series, India’s overdependence on their matchwinners is ever so clear | Cricket News

Ravindra Jadeja hoicked the ball and watched in agony as Tim Southee swallowed the catch to wrap up a famous victory for New Zealand. He turned around and paused, before Jasprit Bumrah consoled him. Shortly, the victors offered him commiseration. But nothing seemed to register in his mind, as he trudged back. Near the sight screen, the other half of India’s most successful pair, Ravichandran Ashwin, waited for him and wrapped his arms around his shoulder. It was a symbolic moment—in pain and praise, the greatest Indian double act was together. Jadeja and Ashwin, along with Virat Kohli, are the only ones in the current squad to have experienced the pain of losing a Test series at home. All three were on the foothills of their career – Jadeja was a debutant in Nagpur against England in 2012 – and were touted as the future of Indian cricket, when another generation slipped into the sunset. Twelve years later, they are in a similar zone as their predecessors, the prime past them but the light not …

Ashwin’s Chepauk playlist ft. Sachin Tendulkar, Pant gets emotional: Who said what after India’s win vs Bangladesh in 1st Test | Cricket News

India did a demolition job on Bangladesh in the first Test, closing the game on Day 4 with a 280-run win in Chennai. Chasing 515, having lost four wickets until Saturday, Bangladesh weren’t able to last even one full session as the Indian bowlers, inspired by Ravichandran Ashwin capped off a comprehensive way. India now lead 1-0 in the two-match series with the second game scheduled to be played starting September 27, Friday in Kanpur.  Here are the major talking points from the game: Pant’s emotional comeback For Rishabh Pant, the Test match marked his comeback to the format for the first time since December 2022. The keeper-batter wouldn’t disappoint. With India having lost three wickets in their second innings on Day 2, Pant would combine alongside Shubman Gill to solidify India’s stranglehold over the game and score a century. “100 was special because I love playing in Chennai. After injury I wanted to play all three formats and this was my first (Test)match after coming back. Loving it every day. It was emotional (celebration), …

WATCH: Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Ashwin’s heartmelting camaraderie, a juggle between who takes the match ball home | Cricket News

After a morning where dark clouds hovered over Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium, and England won the toss and opted to bat first, it was Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin who gave India a way back into the fifth Test. Following a 64-run stand between the English openers, and a punchy 79 from Zak Crawley, Ashwin and Kuldeep split nine wickets between each other as the hosts bundled the visitors for 218. While Ashwin – playing his 100th Test – snapped four wickets to overtake Tom Hartley as the leading wicket taker in the series (21), Kuldeep one upped him with a fifer, his first in the series. It was after England were bowled out that the two shared a heartwarming moment on their way back to the dressing room. To mark his 4-fer on a 100th Test appearance, Kuldeep threw the ball to Ashwin – to take back to the dressing room as souvenir, as is custom for the best bowler – but the offie returned it back to India’s pick of the bowlers from the …

IND vs ENG: Bumrah stops Bazball | Cricket News

As the clock struck 2:12 pm, Tom Hartley’s off-stump went for a walk. On a sun soaked Vizag pitch, Jasprit Bumrah stood with his arms out-stretched before the rest of his teammates mobbed him for one final time here. On a pitch that hardly showed any signs of coming to life, it was befitting that Bumrah (match figures of 9/91) gave finishing touches to a Test that he had single-handedly put India in control from Day 2 onwards. And on Monday, with the help of R Ashwin, he helped India finally overcome the Bazball blues, posting a series-levelling 106-run win. After two rounds, it reads India 1, England 1. And when the series resumes after a nine-day break in Rajkot, it would need a brave punter to put money on which way this will end. If the jubilant celebrations in the middle showed the magnitude of this win that comes sans Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami, there were loud cries in the dressing room too. Head coach Rahul Dravid, who wasn’t …
