How Ravi Bishnoi resolved his no ball issue: Sunil Joshi explains

Ravi Bishnoi did not need a major technical correction. He needed a small adjustment. After the leg-spinner’s no balls became one of the talking points during India’s T20I against England in Manchester, the focus was on finding a solution quickly. The issue was not his bowling action, India’s bowling coach Sunil Joshi explained, but his alignment during the run up. “He hasn’t changed anything in his action. He has re-aligned it in the run-up,” Joshi said ahead of the second T20I against Zimbabwe on Friday. The adjustment has shown initial results. Bishnoi, who did not play the rest of the series after the Manchester T20I, returned to bowling with greater control in Zimbabwe, claiming 1/24 in the first T20I on Thursday. Joshi revealed that India had worked closely with Bishnoi and also had conversations with the support staff, including regular bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule, to address the issue. “We’ve also communicated with Sairaj. So, we’ve had good conversations with him. And eventually, we’ve seen that he’s not even going close to the return crease also, …

‘What was the bowling coach doing?’: Maninder Singh on Ravi Bishnoi’s flaw | Cricket News

5 min readJul 22, 2026 10:09 PM IST The last time Ravi Bishnoi played a T20I for India, he returned with figures of 0/60 in four overs as Shreyas Iyer’s side lost to England by four wickets in Manchester. Alongside the expensive spell, another concern emerged. A fast bowler overstepping is often dismissed as an occupational hazard. For a spinner, it is far rarer – and far harder to explain. Yet Bishnoi was called for three no balls after his back foot repeatedly cut the return crease, handing England three free hits that yielded 14 runs and helped swing the match. Bishnoi is one of two spin options India have for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on Thursday, and former India spinner Maninder Singh felt that the leg-spinner’s biggest issue was a flawed run up that should have been corrected by the coaching staff. “He has to do a lot of work on his run up because you normally run straight to the stumps. He goes left, right, then left, then tries to …

‘How did Harshit Rana get selected directly’: Sadagoppan Ramesh

2 min readJul 10, 2026 05:01 PM IST Former Indian cricketer Sadagoppan Ramesh slammed the Indian team for selecting Harshit Rana. He asked how the side picked up Rana without him proving his fitness? and added, “There are different yardsticks for different players.” “How did Harshit Rana get selected directly to the Indian team without proving his fitness anywhere after surgery? If you haven’t fully recovered from a knee surgery, then it leads to a hamstring or quad injury next, as has happened with him. It’s clear he didn’t return to the Indian team at 100% fitness. It’s just an evidence on how there are different yardsticks for different players. India will produce results again only if they correct this issue,” Ramesh said on his YouTube channel. “The fact they rested him for the Zimbabwe tour and the squad was announced before this injury made it clear that they rested him knowing that he won’t be able to play back-to-back series. This is not about Harshit Rana’s ability,” he said. Varun Chakarvarthy’s injury meant that …

‘He bowls at almost 100 km/h…’

3 min readUpdated: Jul 5, 2026 01:52 PM IST India was in control of the game against England till Ravi Bishnoi came into the attack in the 17th over of the innings. The leg-spinner bowled a couple of backfoot noballs and ended up conceding 29 runs in a single over, which changed the momentum in the game. England came back into the contest and eventually won an improbable game by four wickets. Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer said Bishnoi can be picked easily, he bowls quickly, and his leg-spinner doesn’t turn a great deal. “I mean, I feel that once batters get used to Ravi Bishnoi, it becomes easier to face him. He bowls at almost 100 km/h, and at that pace, his leg-spin doesn’t turn a great deal. Most of the time, it’s either a topspinner or he’s trying something different, but eventually there’s a certain pace to his bowling. He also bowls the googly, but it seems that batters have started to figure out how to play him,” Jaffer said on his YouTube …

‘I feel it’s at a standstill…’ IPL record wicket-taker on role of spinners in IPL

4 min readMay 2, 2026 01:39 PM IST In the first half of this year’s IPL, spinners have bowled a total of 419.1 overs as compared to 553.4 overs bowled at the same stage in IPL 2025 edition. With spinners at the halfway stage of IPL having an average of 31.01 as compared to 29.15 last IPL and an economy of 9.11 as compared to 8.68 last season, this IPL has seen the impact of spinners in the league being not that impressive. 2007 T20 World Cup winner and two-time PL winner Piyush Chawla has weighed his views on the role of spinners in IPL this season and believes that the spinners are at a standstill in IPL. “I feel it’s at a standstill. And there is not much of an improvement from the spinner’s point of view. The spinners who have just come in there and bowled those good lengths and just didn’t try to do too many extra things, they have been doing well,” Chawla, who is the fourth highest wicket-taker with his …

‘Pahunchna easy hai’: How Ravi Bishnoi went from the tapri outside SMS Stadium to four wickets at Ahmedabad | Cricket News

The surprise doesn’t lie in his whippy sliders and googlies or the occasional legbreak. It’s in the angles and in the pace. Strip away the deceptions Ravi Bishnoi layers around his bowling and the deliveries themselves are fairly simple — they usually slide in skidding, or break in with bounce. But he applies the twist all around them. First in the way he approaches the crease. He breaks to his left, then zig-zags back to his right, then hustles through briskly. Like a young boy running in angles to evade adults trying to hold him — to take back the mango he has stolen from the tree. And then the batsman has to take stock of the pace and the bounce. It was the eleventh over of the chase for Gujarat Titans when Bishnoi came on. Sai Sudharsan went immediately — went for the pull, but the line was away from him. He ended up dragging and miscuing it. In his next over, two more. Glenn Phillips fell off the first ball of the thirteenth, …

Siraj’s ‘off day’, Washington Sundar’s failed attack on Ravi Bishnoi and a run out: Matthew Hayden on how GT lost IPL 2026 thriller to RR | Cricket News

4 min readApr 5, 2026 10:14 AM IST At 107/2 in the 11th over, the Gujarat Titans looked the favourites to win their first match of IPL 2026 against the Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Yet, a combination of a lack of runs from the middle-order and excellent death-over bowling from the visitors meant that they lost by six runs, suffering their second defeat of the tournament. GT batting coach Matthew Hayden felt the hosts had the game in their grasp, but losing a flurry of quick wickets proved to be the turning point. “I think we lost four for ten in that period. The game was absolutely in the bag. Washi Sundar had a pretty big decision to make at that point around if you’re going to attack someone like Bishnoi, who was on a roll, especially after the dismissal. That was maybe a choice that he can look at and will look at as well in terms of just trying to be a little bit more cohesive in our run chases, …

Ravi Bishnoi explains where Rajasthan Royals won their IPL 2026 thriller against Gujarat Titans: ‘That made the difference between the two sides’ | Cricket News

3 min readApr 5, 2026 09:57 AM IST The Gujarat Titans batting unit comprises of more than one left-hander, and under such circumstances, it can become challenging for a leg-spinner to not just get wickets, but also control the flow of boundaries. Yet, Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, through a combination of skill and guile, managed to deliver one of the best spells of his IPL career, taking 4/41 in his four overs to help the visitors win by six runs. Despite his Player of the Match exploits, however, Bishnoi praised the pace trio of Sandeep Sharma, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande for the way they executed with the ball in the death overs, admittng that, along with his performance, that proved to be the difference between victory and defeat in the end. “Sandy bhai (Sandeep Sharma) is a fabulous bowler, as we all know. But the way Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande executed their plans, I felt their execution was better in the last two overs. That made the difference between the two sides, …
