YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for renewing the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) permissions of the Rural Development Trust (RDT), enabling the organisation to resume its welfare activities. In a post on the social media platform X, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the renewal would allow the RDT to continue its extensive services in education, healthcare, environmental protection, and social development sectors. He noted that the decision would benefit the poor and marginalised communities in the undivided Anantapur district, where the RDT has been playing a crucial role for decades. However, Mr. Jagan criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of attempting to claim undue credit for the development. He questioned why the renewal process took nearly a year, pointing out that the permissions had been pending since April 21, 2025. “Had the State government been proactive, the delay could have been avoided,” he said.
