Karate India Organisation was never recognised as NSF: IOA

The Indian Olympic Association on Monday banned the Karate India Organisation (KIO) on grounds of misgovernance and unauthorised team selection. The IOA, in a letter dated June 1, 2026, directed KIO to refrain from conducting or organising National Championship and from selecting, fielding, nominating or purporting to represent Indian teams or athletes in any international competition without lawful authorisation. The move is likely to impact India’s participation at the Asian Games. At the previous edition fo the Games, the organisers had refused to accept entries from India. The team was selected by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and since KIO was not part of the selection the Asian Karate Federation did not accept the entries. Meanwhile, the letter confirmed that “KIO has never been recognised by the Government of India as a National Sports Federation for karate under the provisions of the National Sports Development Code of India.” “Consequently, KIO is not entitled to use the word “India” in its nomenclature, nor can it claim any status or authority associated with such usage, except …

Actor Vikram Kochhar, the only Bollywood name in the Manipuri-language film, calls the moment “extremely elating” yet bittersweet. Actor Vikram Kochhar and a still from Boong “It’s a proud moment for all of us, especially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating the team – for the first-ever movie win. I’m happy my choice to back indie cinema paid off. But it’s also sad that we’re celebrating the film only after the West recognised it,” the 42-year-old says. Released last year, the film struggled for screens in India. “My parents in Hyderabad and friends in Bengaluru went to watch the film but there were no-shows, as minimum tickets were not sold. However, in Delhi it had some houseful shows. It did very well at festivals and in the UK theatres, but back home went unnoticed. It’s a brutal reality. We watch global content like K-dramas, yet failed to support our own,” he says. The actor reveals he …

Gukesh says he sometimes needs to wear face mask to leave home in Chennai to avoid being recognised | Chess News

Over the last few months, fame has arrived like an uninvited house guest knocking on world champion Gukesh’s door. For a boy born and brought up in Chennai, these days, he occasionally needs to wear face masks to venture out of his house for fear of being recognised and mobbed. Or, the 18-year-old has to carry out a mental exercise in mapping out “safe places” that he can go out and still be himself. Such is the burden he bears as chess’ youngest world champion in history. “In India, especially in Chennai, when I go out, it was like I was getting recognised more than before. I’ve learned to go out with a mask and stuff. I’ve learned to deal with it, it’s been a few months, so it’s all good now. It depends on the place. Like when I want to go to some place, and it’s crowded, I wear a mask,” Gukesh told Norway Chess in an interview on Saturday before clarifying: “I don’t get recognized too much in all the places. So …

Then listen to this: not just that he loves the Rajkumar Hirani directorial, but he even recognised Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor Khan in public as the female lead from the film, highlighting just how much he appreciated it. Kareena herself recently opened up about the incident wherein the Hollywood legend approached her while she was dining at a restaurant. “I was in a restaurant when I was travelling somewhere. Steven Spielberg was also there at the same restaurant. This was many moons ago when 3 Idiots had just been released. He actually came up to me and asked, ‘Are you the girl who’s in that very famous Indian film about the three students?’ I said, ‘Yes, that’s me.’ He said, ‘My God, I love that movie.’ I didn’t have to act in an English film for him to see it. He had watched 3 Idiots. So that’s a moment for us,” she said while taking part in a session moderated by filmmaker Karan Johar at …

Rajkummar Rao recalls how no one recognised him in his first film with Dinesh Vijan: ‘People said anyone could’ve done that role’ | Bollywood News

Rajkummar Rao is collaborating again with producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films after the blockbuster success of the Stree franchise. This time, it’s for Bhool Chuk Maaf, another comedy (sans horror), helmed by debutant director Karan Sharma. At the trailer launch of the film, Rajkummar recalled his first collaboration with Dinesh and Maddock Films. “Some matches are made in heaven. Dinoo (Vijan) and I are also one of them. Our relationship started when I did a small part in Raabta (2017), a film Dinoo had directed. Everyone said anyone could have done that role since they can’t recognise me in the role. At that time, I felt there must be a reason. Now I know the reason was that we were destined to meet,” said Rajkummar. He played a 324-year-old ancient figure in Raabta, and the actor could not be recognised under heavy prosthetic. However, that cameo led to him leading a blockbuster franchise like Stree. “Dinoo is the only producer I know who loves all his films, whether big or small, with the same …
