Irrfan Khan recommended Akshay Kumar for Airlift, told director ‘you won’t get the money with me’, he recalls | Bollywood News

Akshay Kumar started appearing in films high on nationalistic sentiment a few years ago and while some have not been able to create a strong impression, Airlift managed to stand out. Raja Krishna Menon’s film recently completed 10 years and the director recently revealed that Akshay was not the first choice for the film. In fact, the director initially approached Irrfan Khan. Recalling how it all unfolded, Menon told Bollywood Hungama, “The first actor I approached was Irrfan Khan. It happened through producer Nikkhil Advani. I met Nikkhil as I was told that he was looking for fresh ideas.” He added, laughingly recounting his interaction with Irrfan who said, “Raja, it’s a great script, but your vision is Hollywood. But with me, you’ll not get money to make anything close to your vision.” Menon said he initially thought Irrfan was simply declining the film politely. But then Menon revealed that even producer Nikkhil Advani had a similar concern. “Nikkhil also suggested that I should approach an A-lister. He and Vikram Malhotra (co-producer) met Akshay for …

Patreon is adding tweet-like features and more recommended content

Patreon is introducing a suite of new features, and some of them are reminiscent of traditional social media platforms. The most obvious callback is something Patreon is calling Quips, which — you guessed it — are essentially tweets. Quips are smaller text, photo, or video posts that are public by default and open for anyone to comment on, unlike premium content behind a paywall that Patreon made its name on. The idea is that Quips can entice would-be subscribers by offering them a sneak peek at paid content. The platform is also adding ways for creators to cross-pollinate their audiences. First, content creators will be able to collaborate on posts so that both groups of fans see them, similar to features on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Patreon will also add to its existing recommendation system that users see and push creators when there is audience overlap between content creators. Fans will have the option to view content only from creators they follow, Patreon says. The company is opening up a waitlist on Monday for …

‘Aishwarya Rai’s lookalike Sneha Ullal was recommended by Salman Khan’s sister Arpita’: Directors deny there was any ulterior motive | Bollywood News

Filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who worked with Salman Khan on the film Lucky: No Time for Love, recalled how newcomer Sneha Ullal was cast in the film. At the time, comparisons were made between Sneha and actor Aishwarya Rai. These comparisons hounded Sneha for the remainder of her short-lived career in the film industry. In an interview, the filmmakers said that it wasn’t a conscious decision to cast someone who looks like Aishwarya in the film. Salman and Aishwarya were rumoured to have dated just before the film’s release. In an interview with Hindi Rush, the filmmakers were asked about Sneha’s uncanny resemblance to Aishwarya, and if casting her was deliberate strategy. They said, “It wasn’t a strategy. We wanted to cast a newcomer, and Arpita (Khan, Salman’s sister) said that there is a very pretty girl at her college, and asked if we’d want to audition her. The role was of a schoolgirl whose parents are working in an embassy. She needed to have the vibe of someone who has lived in …

Why creamy layer is recommended for all

Why creamy layer is recommended for all

Economic prosperity and upward political movement of members in the castes brought under Category 1 has led the Socio Economic and Education Survey report to recommend removal of exemption from the creamy layer category. The K. Jayaprakash Hegde-led Commission that submitted the report to the government in 2024 has said that since the economic condition had improved among people in these castes, the creamy layer is sought to be included now. It also notes that some have become ‘crorepathis’ through their business and some have come to be identified in the field of politics. The report also notes that the competition between and within communities has increased, and that it becomes difficult for persons from villages, children of labourers and farmers to compete with the rich in these categories. Beyond 50% Justifying the increase in the reservation matrix beyond the Supreme Court capped 50%, the report pointed out that the reservation had already reached 56% with the increase in reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to 24.1% along with the 10% reservation provided for …
