The special investigation team (SIT) of Chamoli Police on Friday said suspended Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) personal assistant Pramod Nautiyal has confessed to his role in the alleged donation theft at Badrinath temple. The recoveries were made from the accommodation allotted to Nautiyal at Badrinath Dham. We are examining whether these are linked to the alleged misappropriation of temple donations,” Uniyal said. The four-day search and rescue operation at the collapsed under-construction tunnel of the NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydropower Project in Sikkim’s Namchi district concluded on Thursday, July 24, after recovery teams retrieved all 25 workers and officials who had gone missing following the tragedy, officials said.  According to the Namchi district administration, three more bodies were recovered during the final phase of the operation on Thursday, taking the total number of bodies recovered to 25, as per IANS. A drone was recovered from an open field in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.The drone was found lying in an agricultural field near Devak by a resident of Chak Salaria, who spotted it while out on a morning run at 5:50 am, the officials said. They said the individual immediately informed the nearby army unit and subsequently the drone was seized.The drone has been sent for forensic examination to determine its origin, technical specifications, and whether it was used for any cross-border activity, the officials said. The deceased was identified as Bikram Singh Rana, a project manager from Himachal Pradesh. Rana’s body was recovered on the sixth day of the search during extensive operations in Zone II. It was found in an area where iron debris had accumulated following the disaster. Officials said that with the recovery of his body, all missing people had now been accounted for after the massive debris slip struck near the entrance to the under-construction Wayanad twin-tunnel road project on July 7. Hopes  of finding more survivors in the catastrophic Moshi garbage depot suffered a devastating blow on Saturday after two bodies were pulled from the debris, nearly 72 hours after the tragedy hit.  The recovery briefly rekindled hope among rescue teams and anxious families, but both victims were declared dead at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital. They were identified as Akshay Sawant, who was extricated around 2.30 pm, and Sunil Korke, who was extricated around 5:10 pm.  The operation involved cutting through collapsed concrete sections and removing massive quantities of garbage that had engulfed the administrative building of the waste-to-energy project after a portion of the towering legacy waste mound collapsed on Wednesday afternoon. A total of 17 people, including three deceased, have now been recovered from the debris. Hopes of finding more survivors in the catastrophic Moshi garbage depot suffered a devastating blow on Saturday after six bodies were pulled from the debris, nearly 72 hours after the tragedy hit.  The recovery briefly rekindled hope among rescue teams and anxious families, but all victims were declared dead, confirmed medical officer Dr Laxman Gofane.
