Top recruiters are luring IIT grads with lucrative offers–but there’s a catch

Samsara Inc is expected to offer a compensation of up to ₹1.2 crore (£109,580) at IITs for software engineer roles, according to Mint’s review of job profiles with placement cells. But this includes a performance bonus of £6,630 and £36,650 worth of equity vested over three years. A relocation bonus is also available for candidates who will need to relocate to London. High-frequency trader NK Securities, one of the top recruiters at the IITs by compensation offered, is seeking a quantitative researcher and a software developer. While the compensation is expected to be around ₹80 lakh, it includes a joining bonus of ₹2 lakh, a fixed bonus of about ₹25 lakh, and variable pay and non-cash benefits. The joining bonuses have typically been part of the compensation. Candidates using AI? No thanks, say IIT recruiters

Ahead of the placements starting on 1 December, IITs have established testing venues with biometric entry and restricted Wi-Fi networks to block AI tools in online tests, multiple placement coordinators at IITs said. Companies are also deploying sophisticated software to monitor and prevent cheating behaviours such as unauthorized internet searches and tab switching. Organizations looking to prevent AI use primarily deploy authentication tech and firewalls, said Jaspreet Singh, chief revenue officer at Grant Thornton Bharat who specializes in AI and tech. When a candidate connects to a centralized system, the organization will block the usage of certain websites and applications. “This is being done at IITs through the common WiFi they use to give examinations on campus. Further, proctoring and motion-sensing detects your movements and makes sure you are not switching tabs. Even if students bypass this, there are plagiarism detection software that campuses and recruiters use to ensure that responses submitted by students are original,” Singh said. For now, recruiters want to build upon students’ foundational knowledge once the employees are onboard, making tech …

Saudi Arabia scales back salary premiums for foreign talent, recruiters say | World News

Saudi firms are scaling back generous salary premiums that once lured top foreign talent into sectors such as construction and manufacturing as the kingdom reins in spending and reorders economic priorities, four recruiters told Reuters. Saudi Arabia, the world’s top oil exporter, is more than halfway through its economic transformation blueprint, known as Vision 2030, aimed at reducing dependence on hydrocarbon income, creating jobs, and expanding industries such as tourism, real estate, mining and financial services. Story continues below this ad As part of the long-term plan, the kingdom has invested massively in multi-billion-dollar megaprojects, vastly increasing demand for high-skilled foreign workers, but has struggled with execution and delays. Foreign recruits should no longer expect to negotiate premiums of 40% or more, to sometimes even double their existing salaries, which were common earlier this decade, two of the sources said, with offers far more restrained now. “On the one hand you have the region’s biggest economy rationalising and on the other side, you have a huge supply of candidates who are very open to coming …

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has said that it grabbed the top spot among management schools in India in the Financial Times (FT) Global MBA Ranking 2025, and also improved its global rank to 27 from 31 last year. “The rankings are…a lagging indicator of the things that we do. The actions we put in place three years ago are playing out now,” said Madan Pillutla, dean and professor of organizational behaviour at ISB, Hyderabad. “Some of the initiatives that worked for the college includes ‘sustainability’ as a topic beyond a classroom discussion. Remove Marital Status In iPhone Job Ads, Foxconn Tells Indian Recruiters: Report

Remove Marital Status In iPhone Job Ads, Foxconn Tells Indian Recruiters: Report

Apple has been positioning India as an alternative manufacturing base to China. Apple supplier Foxconn has ordered the hiring agents that help recruit iPhone assembly workers in India to remove age, gender, and marital criteria as well as the manufacturer’s name in job advertisements, according to three people familiar with the matter and almost a dozen ads reviewed by Reuters. The moves follow a Reuters investigation published June 25, which found that Foxconn excluded married women from jobs at its main India iPhone assembly plant, though it relaxed the practice during high-production periods. Foxconn, which employs thousands of women at the iPhone factory at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, outsources recruitment of assembly-line workers to third-party vendors. These agents scout for and screen candidates, who ultimately are interviewed and selected by Foxconn. For the June story, Reuters reviewed job ads posted by Foxconn’s Indian hiring vendors between January 2023 and May 2024 which stated that only unmarried women of specified ages were eligible for smartphone assembly roles, contravening Apple and Foxconn anti-discrimination policies. Days after the story’s …
