Akhilesh Yadav alleges BJP misuses religion and donations to fuel corruption

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Tuesday, alleging that it has institutionalised corruption in the name of religion and donations, and accusing it of misleading devotees. He also said a true patriot will expose this “criminology” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and boycott it socially and politically. In a post on X, Yadav attacked the BJP on the Ram temple donation-theft issue, saying people should understand the “criminology” of the saffron party rather than what he termed the “chronology of offerings, donations and contributions”. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister alleged that the BJP and its associates first establish covert links with devotees across the world, emotionally exploit their religious belief and collect large sums in cash as well as precious metals and gemstones. He further alleged that the donors are discouraged from seeking receipts on the pretext of verifying the quality of the donated metals, while large groups of people are mobilised to temples where further collections are made in the name of offerings and …

The conference for ‘We the Leaders’, Annamalai’s foundation, was organised as part of the ‘Drug-Free Tamil Nadu’ campaign, and was titled the ‘Drug-Free Pollachi Awareness Conference’. 2 min readHyderabadMay 29, 2026 02:58 PM IST The debate over Sanatan Dharma in Tamil Nadu has found a new voice, and this time it comes from the film industry. Actor Arjun Sarja talked about Sanatan Dharma at the pre-release event of Blast in Chennai, making his position clear without hesitation. For him, the argument against Sanatan Dharma rests on a misreading of what it actually is. “Sanatan Dharma, from what I know, is a way of life. It teaches you how to behave, not to steal, and not to feel jealous. Sanatan Dharma reminds youngsters to take care of their parents like how they care for their children,” he said. Arjun Sarja then turned the argument on its head with a pointed question for those calling for its removal. “If Sanatan Dharma shouldn’t be there, they should send their parents away. Is it possible?” he asked. Before wrapping up, Arjun was careful to draw a line between religion and philosophy. “Sanatan Dharma is not a religion, it’s a way of life. If everyone understands …

Supreme Court on Sabarimala: Need to ensure social reform conforms to ‘lakshman rekha’, doesn’t hollow out religion | Legal News

Underlining the need to ensure that social reform measures conform to the “lakshman rekha” set by the legislature and do not hollow out a religion, the Supreme Court on Tuesday said courts may be compelled to interfere if any such reform is thrust upon people against their wish. “If the people of this country, through their elected representatives, raise a common voice that this issue requires social reform, probably the court will accept it as a social reform. But if it is against the wish and will of the people — something is thrust upon them or, as a rule of gagging them, maybe the court will interfere,” Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, presiding over a nine-judge bench, said. The bench also comprising Justices B V Nagarathna, M M  Sundresh, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Aravind Kumar, Augustine George Masih, Prasanna B Varale, R Mahadevan and Joymalya Bagchi, is considering questions arising from petitions seeking review of the SC’s September 28, 2018, judgment striking down age restrictions on entry of women to the Sabarimala temple in Kerala. …
