Remove Lawrence Bishnoi, Punjab from docuseries title, HC tells Zee5; says Lawrence of Punjab doesn’t ‘glorify’ gangster

The ZEE5 documentary, initially titled Lawrence of Punjab, may finally get a release, weeks after it was stalled due to a legal case against it. The show, based on the rise of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was not released as scheduled in April, after the Centre admitted there were law-and-order concerns if it were streamed. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, a former student leader from Chandigarh, is currently lodged in the Sabarmati jail. (PTI) Remove Lawrence and Punjab from title On Monday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court set aside the Centre’s advisory against its release, issuing directions to its makers to remove references to “Lawrence” and “Punjab” from its title. The directions came on a plea by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, which had challenged the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s advisory. The petitioner’s counsel, Amit Jhanji, said that neither “Lawrence Bishnoi” nor “Punjab” would be used in the title of the docu-series, thus paving the way for its release. The High Court also watched the docuseries and observed in its ruling that it did not appear …

4 min readApr 23, 2026 02:35 PM IST The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed X Corp to remove social media posts of court proceedings featuring Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, arguing his case before another judge of the court on April 13. The direction came in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by advocate Vaibhav Singh, who is seeking contempt proceedings against Kejriwal, several other politicians, and journalist Ravish Kumar for unauthorisedly and illegally uploading and circulating audio and video recordings of the former Delhi chief minister arguing his plea seeking the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma in the alleged liquor policy scam. While senior advocate Arvind Datar, appearing for Meta Platforms, informed the bench of Justices V Kameswar Rao and Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora that they have already removed such posts from its platform following a communication from the Registrar General of India, Google LLC’s counsel submitted that some of the links flagged by Singh on YouTube do not appear to host the said court proceedings’ video. Michael Jackson biopic had reshoots of $15 million to remove accusations against the ‘Thriller’ singer; eyes $55 million in opening weekend | Hollywood News

The upcoming Hollywood film Michael, based on the life of Michael Jackson, has been in the making for a couple of years now, as principal photography wrapped in May 2024. But, in the months after this, the film’s third act was entirely written, and now, the film does not mention any details about the child molestation accusations that Michael was subjected to for the last decade of his career. This, the production claims, was an oversight by the attorneys of the Jackson estate. What followed was one of the more expensive course corrections in recent Hollywood memory: a complete rebuild of the film’s final act, 22 days of additional photography, a bill of up to $15 million, and a release date that moved not once but twice. Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, opens in the United States on April 24, 2026. The story of how it got there is almost as complicated as its subject. The legal clause that changed everything The original version of Michael was built …

According to sources quoted by PTI, the letter also states that Mr. Chadha — who is also a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab — should not be allotted time for speaking in the House from the AAP’s quota. Mr. Mittal is a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. He was elected to the House in April 2022 and, since then, has been a part of several parliamentary committees, including the Committee on Defence and the Committee on Finance. He was also a part of an all-party delegation, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi, which visited Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece, and Spain after the Pahalgam terror attack last year.
