Two youths arrested for sexually abusing minor at rented flat in Kerala’s Kozhikode

The Kozhikode City police on Monday (December 29, 2025) arrested two youths suspected of sexually abusing a minor girl at a rented flat near the Kozhikode beach in Kerala. The accused were identified as Shameem and Rayees. Police sources said the two reportedly took the girl to the flat offering food and free stay on Sunday. She was later drugged and sexually abused, the police said. The incident came to light when the girl who had gone missing from her house at Perinthalmanna last week was tracked by the Malappuram police on Sunday. The two suspects abandoned her on the beach after allegedly giving her ₹4,000 to keep the assault as a secret. Police sources said the girl left her house following some differences of opinion with her parents. She had reportedly visited Kasaragod before reaching the Kozhikode beach. Bangladeshi student found hanging at rented house in Greater Noida | Delhi News

A Bangladeshi national was found hanging at his rented accommodation in Greater Noida’s Beta-2 on Sunday evening, police said. The deceased student has been identified as Sahriyar. According to the police, they were alerted by the landlord, who said he had gone to check on him after he had not seen the student for over a day. “The body was found hanging from a ceiling fan. It has been sent for a post-mortem. No suicide note has been recovered,” said Greater Noida 1 Circle Officer Hemant Upadhyay. The landlord told the investigators that Sahriyar had moved into the house with a woman, identified as Rupa, a resident of Bihar. The two had claimed that they were married and had taken a room on rent for Rs 8,000, police said. They had shifted on November 17. Police said Rupa was last seen leaving the rented accommodation on November 21. “Since that evening, Sahriyar’s phone had been switched off. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has opened its Namo Bharat trains and stations to celebrate personal milestones, offering options for birthday events, pre-wedding shoots and other private occasions, an official statement said on Saturday. Under the new policy, individuals, event organisers, and photography or media companies can book static or running Namo Bharat coaches. Bookings start at Rs 5000 per hour. The NCRTC said, “With Namo Bharat’s modern, internationally designed coaches, it provides a visually appealing setting for photographs and small gatherings.” The celebrations will be permitted only between 6 am and 11 pm and will be organised in a way that does not disrupt regular train operations. With stations located at key points such as Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad and Meerut South, the initiative is expected to attract residents across the Delhi-Meerut corridor, offering them a familiar yet unusual space to mark special moments, it said. The accused, identified as Dr. Joseph Paul, 29, hails from Tenali in Andhra Pradesh, and is a final-year post-graduate student in forensic medicine, posted at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary, was arrested after State Task Force (STF) officials seized synthetic and imported narcotics worth around ₹3 lakh from his Musheerabad residence. Investigators said that Paul, who was drawing a stipend of ₹60,000 a month, became addicted to narcotics during his postgraduate training. “He first tried ganja during his early days at the Gandhi Hospital hostel,” said Sub-Inspector Balaraju of the STF-B team. “Over time, his dependency grew, and he started associating with three childhood friends — Pramod, also a doctor, Sandeep and Sarath, both private employees — who were already involved in peddling.” …
