JD Vance slams New York Post as ‘idiot’ for reporting family was moved to ‘undisclosed location’ over protests

Mar 06, 2025 01:30 AM IST Vice President JD Vance addresses security concerns during Vermont trip, clarifies hotel switch was for privacy, not protests. Vice President JD Vance took a family trip to Vermont last weekend, heading to the Sugarbush Resort in Waitsfield for some time on the slopes following the heated Trump-Zelensky meeting. However, the New York Post reported that the VP was “forced to move his family to an “undisclosed location” after hundreds of pro-Ukraine protesters swarmed the Vermont ski resort where they were vacationing.” Vice President JD Vance’s ski trip to Vermont drew protests, but he defended his family’s experience, stating concerns about their hotel change were unrelated to demonstrators.(AFP) When Vance and his family arrived at the resort, they were met by a crowd of protesters, upset over his stance during the White House meeting. Demonstrators held signs accusing him of being a “national disgrace” , “traitor” and a “pawn” of Russian President Vladimir Putin, with some even suggesting that the vice president take his ski trip to Russia instead. Bastar Journalist Killed By Cousins Because Of His Reporting: Cops

Bastar Journalist Killed By Cousins Because Of His Reporting: Cops

Bhopal: The Special Investigation Team investigating the murder of Mukesh Chandrakar, whose body was found in a septic tank last week, has said the journalist was killed by his cousins who were enraged by his reportage on corruption in road construction contracts, some of which involved them. Mukesh, an independent journalist who also contributed to NDTV, practised his craft in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, an area which is notoriously difficult for reporters. The 32-year-old journalist was last seen leaving his home in Bijapur’s Pujari Para on New Year’s Day. His brother, Yukesh, filed a missing complaint the next day and informed the police about the last location updated on the journalist’s phone: a shed owned by his cousin and contractor Suresh Chandrakar in Chhatan Para Basti, not very far from their home. A note by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) said police found 17 rooms for workers, which were locked, and a newly cemented septic tank. Suresh claimed the tank was cemented as part of renovations, but officials grew suspicious. Call detail records revealed that Mukesh’s …

Abigail Breslin Speaks Out On Retaliation After Reporting Co-Star’s Misconduct: ‘To Them, We’re Still Just Noisy Women’

Actress Abigail Breslin recently opened up about facing backlash for speaking out against a male co-star’s alleged unprofessional behavior on set. In a heartfelt letter shared on Instagram and Tumblr, the Little Miss Sunshine star discussed the challenges women face when addressing sexism and injustice in Hollywood. Breslin recalled being dismissed as hysterical and accused of targeting men, even after taking appropriate measures to report the incident. “I had the silly and naive impression they would believe me,” Breslin wrote. “I was publicly shamed and defamed in the process. A reputation I had cultivated for over two decades had now been tainted.” The letter comes amid growing conversations about women’s experiences in the industry, spurred by recent events like Blake Lively’s legal complaint against Justin Baldoni and Kate Beckinsale’s revelations about misogyny in Hollywood. Breslin described the aftermath of reporting her co-star’s behavior as deeply distressing. She said she confidentially approached her union with her concerns but was later met with retaliation. According to Breslin, her previous experiences with domestic abuse were weaponized against her, …

Trump is probably going to kill the crash reporting rule that made Tesla look bad

Trump is probably going to kill the crash reporting rule that made Tesla look bad

Donald Trump’s transition team is taking aim at a Biden-era rule requiring automakers and tech companies to report crashes that involve fully or partially autonomous vehicles, according to Reuters. Scrapping the crash reporting rule would greatly benefit Tesla, which to date, has reported the most number of crashes. In 2021, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a standing general order (SGO) requiring automakers and tech companies to report crashes involving autonomous vehicles as well as Level 2 driver-assist systems found in millions of vehicles on the road today. Companies are now required to document collisions when an automated driving system was in use within 30 seconds of impact and report those incidents to the government.  The idea was to create more transparency around the deployment of a new technology that purports to improve safety but has also been tied to a number of deadly incidents. Regulators argued that more data was needed to determine whether these new systems were making roads safer or simply making driving more convenient. Tesla, in particular, came under scrutiny. The company’s …

Canada blocked Australian media outlet for reporting Jaishankar`s presser: India

Canada blocked Australian media outlet for reporting Jaishankar`s presser: India

India on Thursday said Canada blocked an Australian media outlet hours after it broadcast the press conference of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Canadian action of blocking the social media handles and certain pages of Australia Today smacked of “hypocrisy” towards freedom of speech. “We understand that the social media handles, pages of this particular outlet, which are important diaspora outlets, have been blocked and are not available for viewers in Canada. This happened just an hour or few hours after this particular handle carried the press conference of EAM Dr S Jaishankar with Penny Wong,” Jaiswal said in response to a question at the weekly media briefing. “We were surprised. It looks strange to us. But nonetheless, what I say is that these are actions which yet again highlight the hypocrisy of Canada towards freedom of speech,” the external affairs ministry spokesman said. He said Jaishankar, in his media interactions in Australian capital Canberra, had spoken about the allegations levelled …

Himachal gets first 24×7 cybercrime reporting station | Chandigarh News

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Monday inaugurated a 24×7 ‘CY-Station’ of the state police’s cyber wing in Shimla to facilitate real-time registration of complaints, particularly in cases of financial frauds. “Equipped to handle cybercrime-related complaints more efficiently, the CY-Station would also facilitate the blocking or lien marking of defrauded amounts through the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS),” Sukhu said. The citizens, he said, can register cybercrime related complaints through the toll-free number 1930. “The data centre will act as the nodal hub for overseeing the functioning of the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal’s (NCRP) district database and serve as a key decision-making unit for future strategies,” Sukhu said. He said the CY-Station is equipped with modern technology to ensure swift response by trained operators besides having automatic facilities for call recording to ensure effective follow-up measures. The data centre’s network infrastructure would serve as a strategic link between Himachal Pradesh’s cyber infrastructure and the centralised NCRP. In cases where a complaint is reassigned with a bank or a financial institution …

Endless tides in reporting Maharashtra’s GPS

On August 26, 2024, a giant statue of the Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj at the Rajkot Fort in Malvan collapsed. The Opposition was quick to pounce, alleging corruption in the statue’s construction.  File | Photo Credit: PTI Maharashtra, the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is a relentless battleground of political activity. In the two years since I started reporting on the State’s GPS — governance, politics, and society — there has not been a dull day. New controversies often arise before the previous ones have even begun to cool down. The Opposition’s vigorous efforts keep issues in the spotlight, while the ruling dispensation is never far behind in delivering rebuttals, whether through traditional media or a post on X. The political landscape here is markedly different from Telangana, where I reported from 2015 to 2022. In Telangana, the K. Chandrashekhar Rao-led TRS (now BRS) government dominated the narrative, leaving little room for dissent, as the Opposition was weakened by defections and had minimal representation in the Assembly. Reporting there felt like covering a monologue, …
