Russia Unveils Upgraded Su-57E, Offers India Full Tech Transfer Ahead of Putin Visit The requirement for a fifth-generation fighter aircraft has now become an operational necessity for the Indian Air Force (IAF), with momentum building around the proposal to procure such fighter jets. A decision is expected after the finalisation of the Rafale deal from France. At present, Russia’s Sukhoi Su-57 is considered the front runner, primarily due to cost considerations and India’s existing experience operating the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, making the technology absorption and integration smoother with the Russian platform. “We don’t have many options, and we have our criteria set. Whoever gives us more leverage, we decide in their favour,” a senior defence official privy to the developments told CNN-News18, while clarifying that no final decision has been taken. At a time when China has reportedly test-flown sixth-generation fighters and is planning to supply fifth-generation aircraft to Pakistan, …

Last Updated:January 17, 2026, 16:45 IST By lowering eligibility threshold, BDA hopes to attract more buyers, improve uptake of its housing projects, and make better use of existing residential inventory across the city. One of the key reasons behind the proposed revision is the presence of unsold BDA flats and houses. (Image: Canva) Buying a Bangalore Development Authority flat has traditionally required long-term residency in the city, a condition that has kept many potential buyers out of the process. That may soon change. BDA is considering easing its residency requirement, a move that could open up its housing schemes to a much wider section of Bengaluru’s population. The proposal is still under discussion, but if approved, it would mark a significant shift in how eligibility for BDA flats is determined. What the rule change could look like At present, applicants must show at least ten years of residence in Bengaluru to be eligible for BDA housing allotments. Under the proposed revision, this requirement could be reduced to just two years. Officials say applicants would need …

How Sergio Perez went from being the ultimate team man to being surplus to requirement at Red Bull | Motor-sport News

It was about three years ago that the best tribute to Sergio Perez’s skills in Formula 1 and his value as a driver for Red Bull were uttered in a single line over the cackling static of the radio by his teammate Max Verstappen. “Oh, Checo is a legend,” said Verstappen, after his Mexican teammate had kept Lewis Hamilton at bay from Lap 15 to Lap 21 until the Dutch driver caught up and overhauled Hamilton in the last lap. Verstappen and Hamilton were jockeying for more than just a race win in the season-finale at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that day. The duo was also fighting for the 2021 title, which Verstappen did win, thanks to an assist from Perez. Three seasons after being hailed as the ultimate teammate in a sport where most drivers look after their personal interests, Perez will have no seat in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Perez parted ways with the team on Wednesday, after extensive discussions with the team. It was a development many saw coming, …
