The newly opened outlet at Nemam in Tiruvallur district. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL)’s first retail outlet selling petrol and diesel opened recently at Nemam in Tiruvallur district without much fanfare. It is a dealer-operated outlet and is expected to soon have alternative fuels and battery charging stations. The company has branded its retail outlets as Sooper. India’s retail inflation rises to 3.21 per cent in February: Govt data

India’s retail inflation rose slightly to 3.21 per cent in February 2026 compared to the same month last year, according to official data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The inflation rate is based on the revised Consumer Price Index (CPI) series with 2024 as the base year, which was introduced earlier this year to improve the accuracy and representation of consumption patterns in the country. Inflation increases from January level The February figure represents an increase of 0.47 percentage points compared to the revised CPI inflation rate of 2.74 per cent recorded in January 2026, when the new CPI series was first launched. According to the official statement, headline inflation rose by about 47 basis points on a year-on-year basis in February. The inflation rate for rural areas stood at 3.37 per cent, while urban inflation was recorded slightly lower at 3.02 per cent during the same period. 7-Eleven Inc., a Texas-based convenience retail chain that operates 86,000 stores across 20 countries, has significantly expanded its only Global Solution Centre (GSC) in the world, located in Bengaluru. The U.S. retailer has now broadened the centre by adding 2,32,090 sq. ft to make it a large workspace, comprising a mock store for employee experience. Malahar Pinnelli, vice-president and country leader, 7-Eleven GSC, told The Hindu that the centre has evolved from an operational support function into a strategic value hub. “Bengaluru now represents a critical node in 7-Eleven’s global ecosystem, leveraging deep technical expertise and innovation capabilities to build end-to-end digital, data, and operational platforms,” he said, adding that as a result the GSC has been embedded at the core of the enterprise, co-owning global platforms and driving outcomes across technology, finance, and customer experience. Retail inflation in India recorded at 2.75 pc for January with 2024 as base year

India`s inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), with the new base year 2024, for the month of January this year is estimated at 2.75 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to official data released by the Ministry of Statistics on Thursday. The food inflation came in at 2.13 percent during the month. Prices of vegetables such as potatoes, onions and garlic declined during January along with the prices of pulses such as arhar and tur. However, there was an increase in the price of tomatoes during the month. Housing Inflation was estimated at 2.05 percent. The data showed a sharp increase in the inflation rate for silver jewellery at per percent and in the case of gold jewellery at 46.77 percent. Retail inflation rises to 0.71 per cent in Nov on higher food and fuel prices

Retail inflation inched up to 0.71 per cent in November on rising prices of vegetables, protein-rich items, and fuel, government data showed on Friday. The consumer price index (CPI)-based retail inflation had fallen to a record low of 0.25 per cent in October, mainly due to lower prices helped by GST rate cuts and a favourable base. According to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO), deflation in food items was 3.91 per cent in November against 5.02 per cent in October. The rise in headline and food inflation during November 2025 is mainly attributed to an increase in inflation of vegetables, eggs, meat and fish, spices, fuel and light, the NSO said. Retail inflation rate slipped to a 69-month or near six-year low of 3.16 per cent in April, primarily due to moderation in prices of food items including vegetables, pulses, cereals, meat and fish, data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) showed. This marked the sixth month of a downward trajectory in retail inflation, the lowest inflation level after July 2019 and the third successive month of inflation rate remaining below the Reserve Bank of India’s band of 4+/- 2 per cent for medium-term inflation targeting. Food inflation, based on the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI), moderated for the sixth consecutive month, easing to a 42-month low of 1.78 per cent in April from 2.69 per cent a month ago and 8.7 per cent in April 2024.
