Why MMRDA is retaining the consultant it threatened to sack after the fatal Mulund metro collapse

3 min readMumbaiApr 21, 2026 10:03 PM IST Citing nearly 80 per cent completion of work on Metro Line 4 and the risk of delay if a new consultant were appointed, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Tuesday justified its decision to retain the general consultant it had threatened to sack following the fatal Mulund slab collapse, calling it a move taken “strictly in the larger public interest”. The clarification came a day after The Indian Express reported about MMRDA going back on its earlier stance and deciding to continue with DB Hill–LBG consortium as the general consultant (of GC) for Metro Line 4. The agency had earlier announced its intention to terminate the contract in the aftermath of the February 14 incident in Mulund, when a parapet slab fell onto LBS Road, killing one person and injuring three others. “Given that the project has already achieved nearly 80% physical progress, and that appointing a new general consultant at this stage would require approximately 3–4 months, potentially delaying the project and impacting public …

Seeking to ensure a steady supply to domestic consumers exclusively availing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) amid the impact on imports due to tensions in West Asia, the government on Saturday (March 14, 2026) mandated that individuals with a piped natural gas (PNG) connection will neither be allowed to obtain a new LPG connection nor retain an existing additional connection of liquefied petroleum gas. The amended supply order also bars them from obtaining any refill. Further, the order states that individuals having both LPG and natural gas connections at present “immediately surrender their domestic LPG connection”. The order comes amid imports of cooking gas being affected because of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia. For context, India imports about 60% of its overall cooking gas requirements. Of this, around 90% is routed through the Strait of Hormuz. …

‘There are not many chances of Liverpool retaining the title’: Alexis Mac Allister | Football News

Premier League defending champions Liverpool have had a poor season so far by the standards they have set for themselves in the previous year. After 19 games, they are placed in fourth spot with 33 points. Arsenal Ashton Villa, and Manchester City are placed in the top three with 48, 42 and 41 points respectively. Footballer Alexis Mac Allister said he does not see Liverpool retaining their title this season. “Many things changed as I said, new players came in to replace those who left, we changed too many things, but I prefer to keep it to myself. There are not many chances of Liverpool retaining the title. I hate to say it, but it is quite clear,” said Mac Allister, speaking on Sky Sports. “Arsenal is in a really good moment, Manchester City is quite close, but we are not close in terms of performances or results, so I do not see us becoming champions again. It hurts because this should be a moment when we are enjoying the Premier League which we won …

He knows that too,” Goenka told a sports media in an exclusive interaction on Wednesday. “He (Rahul) has been there since the inception of Lucknow Super Gants. He’s led us for three years.
