In a procedure described as a significant milestone in the medical history of Kodagu district, the kidneys, heart valves and corneas were successfully retrieved from a 46-year-old accident victim after he was declared brainstem dead. The family including a man, and a woman along their three daughters were allegedly found brutally murdered in the Uttar Pradesh’s district, however, the exact reason of their death is yet to be ascertained. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene. The body of a cab driver who fell into the sea with his vehicle at Chennai port on Tuesday (December 17, 2024) has been retrieved. I. Mohammed Shaji, 33, of Kodungaiyur, drove a cab operated by a private firm, which was being used to ferry Coast Guard staff in Jawahar Dock at Chennai Port Trust. On Tuesday night, when he was driving the cab with Coast Guard officer Jogendra Kanda in the backseat, the vehicle skidded and fell into the sea. The police said both Shaji and Kanda were drowning, but the latter managed to open the rear window of the cab and escape. He was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment. On Wednesday (December 18, 2024), the Fire and Rescue Services and Coast Guard personnel intensified their search to retrieve the body of the driver and the cab. The body of Vetri Duraisamy, 45, the son of former Chennai mayor Saidai Duraisamy, was recovered from the Sutlej river in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, more than a week after the vehicle in which he was travelling met with an accident, the police said. Vetri’s body was located after a joint search operation by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, National Disaster Response Force, Uttarakhand state disaster response force, Home Guards and divers of the Mahun Nag Association. Vetri was reported missing after a Toyota Crysta he was travelling in fell into the Sutlej river near Kashang Nallah after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, on February 4, the Himachal Pradesh Police said that the driver, Tanjin, was declared dead and Vetri’s co-passenger S Gopinath, 32, was rescued and hospitalised.
