A 60-foot iron bridge collapsed over a drain in North Delhi`s Roop Nagar on Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a woman, officials said, reported the PTI. The incident took place when the structure gave way suddenly, causing the woman to fall into the ‘nala’ below. According to officials from the Delhi Fire Service, the victim was a woman aged around 50 who was reportedly a homeless person. She was found in the drain after the collapse and was declared dead at the scene. The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the incident at approximately 9:30 am, following which several fire tenders were dispatched to the site, according to the PTI. Rescue operations were carried out by multiple agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force, Delhi Police, and other emergency teams. The teams worked together to locate the victim and recover her body from the drain, the news agency reported.
