Manchester United on Friday announced Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim as their new manager after sacking Erik Ten Hag earlier in the week. “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements,” the club said in a statement. The former Sporting CP coach will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join United on November 11 which means interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in charge for this weekend’s Chelsea game, the mid-week Europa Laegue fixture vs PAOK and November 10’s Premier League match against Leicester City.
