Actor Rukhsar Rehman, who made her debut as a teenager in 1992, quit the film business after getting married at the age of 17. Because her family had decided that she would no longer take on more work, she had to turn down offers to star in movies that went on to become classics. In an interview, Rukhsar said that she missed out on the opportunity to work with Mani Ratnam in Roja, with Vidhu Vinod Chopra in 1942: A Love Story, and opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film Baazigar. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rukhsar reflected on the two innings of her career – she rejoined the film industry in 2005 – and admitted that she was particularly disappointed about losing out on a few opportunities.
