Researchers controlled key environmental factors like temperature, humidity, light intensity, and carbon dioxide levels, to replicate Kashmir-like conditions. (Representative image: Getty) The horticulture college in Mojerla, Wanaparthy district of Telangana, has now proven that the prized saffron flower, once thought to grow only in the mountainous regions of Kashmir, can successfully be cultivated in Telangana as well. With support from NABARD, the college experimented with aerophonic technology, and its success has opened up new possibilities for the state’s agriculture sector. By demonstrating that saffron farming is possible even in Telangana’s climate, the project has created a promising new source of income for farmers. Under the leadership of Professor Dr Pidiga Saidayya, a special aerophonic unit spread across 200 square feet was set up at the Mojerla Horticulture College.
