The Home Department has issued an order to this effect, bringing the change into force immediately. The decision follows a review initiated by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, who called for an assessment of the long-standing protocol. The move is aimed at reducing ceremonial duties and allowing police personnel to focus more on law and order, security and public service. Officials said the revised rules apply to regular movements such as district tours, inspections and arrivals or departures within the state.
