Sambhal administration set to install 300 CCTV cameras at 127 locations across city

This comes following violence in November last year in which four persons were killed. The project, funded under the 15th Finance Commission grant, will be implemented as part of the city surveillance initiative, Municipal Executive Officer Mani Bhushan Tiwari said. The district administration proposed this plan to ensure security and monitor any future incidents effectively, he said. Mr. Tiwari said that previously installed CCTV cameras had aided the law enforcement in tracking and identifying miscreants. The new CCTV cameras at 127 locations across the city will bolster security and surveillance and is expected to enhance traffic management, law enforcement, and public safety, particularly in preventing chain-snatching and ensuring women’s security, the officer said. ASI seeks control, management of Mughal-era Sambhal mosque | Latest News India

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has submitted its written statement in a civil court in Sambhal, seeking control and management of the Mughal-era Shahi mosque as it is a protected heritage structure. Sambhal violence: A three-member judicial commission visits the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, Dec. 1.(PTI) The statement was submitted in the court on November 29 during a hearing of the Shahi Mosque vs Harihar Mandir case. The same court had appointed a court commissioner to carry out a survey of the mosque. The Hindu side had filed a civil suit in the court on November 19 claiming that the mosque was built over a Harihar temple in 1529. Representing the ASI, Vishnu Sharma, standing counsel of the government of India, said the agency submitted its counterargument in the court on Friday, stating that it faced resistance from the mosque’s management committee and locals in conducting surveys of the site. Akhilesh Yadav demanded the suspension of the administrative machinery in Sambhal. Sambhal: A 15-member delegation from the Samajwadi Party (SP) was barred from entering Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal today, prompting a sharp response from party chief Akhilesh Yadav. The team, tasked with investigating recent violence at the Shahi Jama Masjid, was formed under the leadership of UP state assembly LoP Mata Prasad Pandey.  The Sambhal district administration issued a directive banning the entry of outsiders until December 10. District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya stated, “No outsider, any social organisation or any public representative can enter into the borders of the district without seeking the permission of the competent authority till December 10.” This measure came against the backdrop of violent clashes in Sambhal on November 24, following a court-mandated survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid.
