Samsung is officially announcing the Z TriFold, its much-anticipated foldable with not one, but two hinges. It’ll launch first in Korea on December 12th, with a US launch planned for the first quarter of 2026. There’s no price just yet, but if a phone with one hinge costs $2,000, you should probably start saving your pennies nickels for this one. The TriFold’s inner screen measures 10 inches on the diagonal, with a 2160 x 1584 resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that goes all the way down to 1Hz. That’s a lot of screen. You can run three apps vertically side by side on it, and even use Samsung’s DeX desktop environment in a standalone mode without a separate display. On paper, the TriFold’s outer screen looks a lot like the one on the Z Fold 7. It’s a 6.5-inch 1080p display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Reputable gadget leaker Evan Blass has taken to X with “some confirmed details” on Samsung’s upcoming trifold phone. It’ll be called the “Galaxy Z TriFold,” according to Blass, with a 6.5-inch cover display that maxes out at 2600 nits brightness. It unfurls to produce a 10-inch display on the inside capable of reaching a peak brightness of 1600 nits. The Galaxy Z TriFold is also expected to host a 200-megapixel main camera, 5,437mAh battery, and Snapdragon SoC under the hood. During Google I/O’s developer keynote, engineering manager Florina Muntenescu said the company is “building on the foundation” of Samsung’s DeX platform “to bring enhanced windowing capabilities in Android 16,” as spotted earlier by 9to5Google. Samsung first launched DeX in 2017, a feature that automatically adjusts your phone’s interface and apps when connected to a larger display, allowing you to use your phone like a desktop device. The Galaxy S25 Edge — first teased back in January — is essentially a slimmed-down S25 Plus, with the same 6.7-inch OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, and AI features. The compact design comes at a price though, and you’ll have to do without the telephoto lens or beefy battery. At 163g (about 5.7 ounces), the Edge is just a gram heavier than the regular S25, with its dinky little 6.2-inch screen, and at 5.8mm thick it’s comfortably thinner than any Samsung slab phone in years. It’s still slightly thicker than Samsung’s Tab S10 tablets or Z Fold 6 foldable, which have enough space to get thinner by spreading their batteries out a little more, but if you prefer traditional phone form factors then this is among the thinnest you can buy right now — at least until the rumored iPhone 17 Air comes along.
