Radhikka Madan-led drama Sanaa did international festival rounds four years ago and got acclaim and awards, including the Best Actor award for her at the 25th UK Asian Film Festival in 2023 and the Best Director award for Sudhanshu Saria at the same festival. Sudhanshu Saria on Sanaa: ‘I don’t want to be fast, I want to get it right’

Some films have their own journey of finding an audience, and Sudhanshu Saria understands that. The National Award-winning director’s film Sanaa, starring Radhikka Madan, has been ready since late 2022, and even travelled to several festivals around the world. The drama, however, has yet to reach the Indian audience. That could change soon, Saria indicated to mid-day.  “I don’t want to be first. I don’t want to be fast. I want to get it right. So, we are working hard to find the perfect partner to get Sanaa to the screen,” he said, adding, “I want to make sure it’s presented to the audience in the correct way. The Houthis’ media office said 13 US airstrikes hit an airport and a port in Hodeida, on the Red Sea. The office also reported US strikes in the capital, Sanaa. There were no immediate reports of casualties. The US military’s Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The Iranian-backed Houthis rebels in Yemen on Sunday released more than 100 war prisoners linked to the country’s long-running conflict, the International Committee of the Red Cross said. The unilateral release came more than a year after Yemen’s warring sides freed more than 800 prisoners in a major exchange in the country in April last year. The release of 113 prisoners took place Sunday morning in the Houthi-held capital of Sanaa, the Red Cross said in a statement, adding that the released detainees were among those the ICRC visited and assisted regularly in their detention in the Yemeni capital. “We hope this paves the way for further releases, bringing comfort to families eagerly anticipating reunification with their loved ones,” said Daphnee Maret, the ICRC’s head of delegation in Yemen. One of the released detainees with health issues was transferred in an ambulance to his hometown inside Yemen, the ICRC said without elaborating. However, there was no damage or casualties and the ship continued to it next port of call. News agency the Associated Press, quoted security firm Ambrey as claiming that the targeted vessel appeared to be a Marshall Islands-flagged, Greek-owned bulk carrier. It added that another Panama-flagged, Emirati-owned chemical tanker was nearby as well. The Houthi rebels have not yet claimed responsibility for the latest attack in the Red Sea. In 24 hours, the Iran-backed rebels launched missile attacks on American merchant ship and destroyer USS Gravely. While the U.S. claimed that both missiles were shot down, the Houthis said that there were direct hits on both ships. Merchant ship Koi was reportedly enroute Israel when it was attacked in the Red Sea. Meanwhile, CNN reported that hours before the attack on Koi, a Houthi missile narrowly missed USS Gravely in first such close encounter. In response, the U.S. destroyed 10 prepared-to-launch drones in Yemen. The Houthis have warned that U.S., and UK ships in the Red Sea were legitimate targets since their ‘foolish’ attacks on Yemen.
