Shubhra Shankwalker Cooks a Forgotten Goan Saraswat Recipe

Shubhra Shankwalker Cooks a Forgotten Goan Saraswat Recipe

On her dining table, on a round wooden platter, Shubhra lays out the ingredients for the dish that is to be the hero of the meal. Dudhyachi Bhaji Uss Ghalun is a simple stir-fry of pumpkin, sugarcane, coconut, and hog plum. “I learned this from my mother-in-law, my Aai,” she says. Anyone who meets Shubhra immediately learns two things about her: she loves feeding people, and she owes much of her cooking prowess to her mother-in-law. “What I am today is mainly because of her. My mother gave me birth, but she nurtured me. She taught me how to buy fish, how to cook it, and which ingredient to focus on.” Much of these teachings come to the fore at Aai’s, her home catering and cooking venture. Shubhra launched Aai’s in 2017 for her mother who wanted more pocket-money. “I told her instead of making and distributing pickles to everyone, let’s sell them,” she says. The pickles did well, and they graduated to taking orders, and sending out tiffins. But shortly after, her mother gave …

Sanskar Saraswat keen on winning both singles and doubles titles at Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial | Badminton News

“Singles or doubles win?” That was the question posed by former national player Raj Saraswat to his 18-year-old son Sanskar Saraswat on Tuesday evening. The Jodhpur player first won the boys’ singles U19 quarterfinals against Ansh Negi 21-17, 21-14. Later, he wrapped up the U19 doubles quarter-finals pairing up with Arsh Mohammad in the Yonex Sunrise 31st Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking Prize Money Tournament. After his double surge, at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, the youngster was only worried about going back to the hotel. “My father Raj Saraswat too played both singles as well as doubles but one of his memories was seeing Lee Chong Wei playing in the Asian Satellite Tournament in Jaipur in 2003, where he too played. My father would always tell me that Chong Wei focussed on one format and look where he reached. But then I am still young and enjoy playing both singles and doubles. To win both the titles here is my aim and hopefully I can achieve that,” said the youngster while …

Asian Junior Masters 2024: Fighting fever and diarrhoea, Mohali’s Ojaswini Saraswat wins title in girls’ category D | Golf News

On Sunday, when Mohali’s 10-year-old Ojaswini Saraswat was competing in the Asian Junior Masters 2024 at Black Mountain Golf Club, Hua Hin, Thailand, the youngster was suffering from fever and diarrhoea. Saraswat fought back with her condition and carded a course record score of 25-under-par to win the title in the girls’ category D. Such was the youngster’s dominance that she made three eagles and sank 19 birdies over the three days at the course. “I was having fever and diarrhoea on the second as well as the third day. But then the opening day score motivated me and I decided to play the next two rounds taking medications. The greens were playing fast there and light winds too made it challenging. Also, it was a three-part course so it made it a bit challenging too. I am glad that I could counter the conditions and win the title with a new course record,” said Saraswat while speaking with The Indian Express from Thailand. The Mohali youngster, whose father Om Saraswat runs a construction business …
