3 min readMay 12, 2026 07:30 AM IST With the three-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals at Dharamshala, Punjab Kings suffered their fourth consecutive loss in this year’s IPL. The Shreyas Iyer led team, which was once leading the points table and had six wins out of seven matches with one no result match, is now placed fourth in the points table. The team could have climbed to the top spot if they would have won the match. Defending 210 runs, Punjab Kings had Delhi Capitals at. 38 for 3 in five overs before their bowlers let the Axar Patel led side make a comeback in the match. With Capitals winning the match with one over to spare and Kings giving away 78 runs in the last five overs of Capitals’ innings Iyer sounded harsh on the team’s bowling as well fielding. Hans Niemann, Fabiano Caruana & Vladimir Kramnik launch scathing attack on Chess.com

Chess.com, the world’s largest online chess-playing platform, is facing a fresh wave of criticism, this time from some of the biggest names in the circuit over issues with points and online server disconnections during recent online high-stakes games. Former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik and US Grandmasters Fabiano Caruana and Hans Niemann criticised the platform Chess.com for technical glitches. During the Chess.com Open event (previously called the Chess.com Global Championship), Caruana complained of being unfairly treated and punished through no fault of his own. In the eighth round of the Swiss format 90-player qualifier, Caruana was disconnected even though he claimed his internet connection was fine. As a result of the disconnection, he was given a 0-point bye in round 8, which ultimately cost him his qualification spot. The Chess.com Open, as claimed by the organisers themselves, is one of the world’s largest open tournaments with a prize pool of $250,000 and offers three direct spots to the next Esports World Cup. Expressing his dissent against Chess.com, Caruana took to X and wrote, “The chesscom thing …

‘A captain’s job is not just toss and manage bowlers… your primary role is to score runs’: Aakash Chopra’s scathing words on Suryakumar Yadav’s form | Cricket News

With 201 runs in 19 T20Is this year, Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is not in the best of form in the shortest format of the game. The 35-year-old played a four-ball knock of five runs during India’s 51-run loss against South Africa in the second T20I at Mullanpur on Thursday. It also meant Yadav’s average in T20Is this year dropped to 14.35 in a total of 17 innings and the Indian captain has a strike rate of 126.45 in the format this year. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra sees this as a problem and termed Yadav’s primary role in the team ‘to score runs’. “You are the team’s captain, but a captain’s job is not just to toss and manage the bowlers. It’s not just about making the strategy. If you bat in the top four, your primary role is to score runs. It’s been many matches. If you have an average of 14 in 17 innings and the strike rate is also not very good, you don’t have a single fifty, and have …

Rajmohan Unnithan launches scathing attack on Rahul Mamkootathil

Congress MP Rajmohan Unnithan on Friday (November 28) launched a scathing attack on suspended party leader Rahul Mamkootathil, saying the Congress had no choice but to take action after finding substance in the allegations against him. He accused Mamkootathil of challenging both the complainant and the media, and of deploying a PR agency to target senior Congress leaders. Commenting on former KPCC president K. Sudhakaran, Mr. Unnithan said Sudhakaran’s frequent shifts in position had led to his removal from the post. He added that those within the party who continued to back Mamkootathil were not behaving like responsible Congress workers. Mr. Unnithan said the legal process in the case must move forward without interference and that no one could halt it. According to him, Mamkootathil’s once-promising political career has now collapsed entirely. “The situation has reached a point where he will not be able to return to politics,” Mr. Unnithan said, reiterating that the episode has inflicted irreversible damage on the leader. Pant dropped himself down to number seven and faced just two balls before being bowled by Mukesh Kumar on the final delivery of the innings. Pujara feels Pant should bat in the middle overs, especially when his team needs him the most. Pujara also suggested Pant isn’t a finisher and that he shouldn’t try to go the MS Dhoni way. “I genuinely don’t know what the thought process was. But there’s no doubt – he should be batting higher up the order. He’s trying to do what MS Dhoni does, but he’s nowhere near that level. I still feel he’s someone who should be batting during the middle overs, between the 6th and 15th. He’s not a finisher, and he shouldn’t be doing the job of one,” Pujara told ESPNcricinfo. After the match, …

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) slumped to their sixth defeat in eight matches in IPL 2025 on Sunday, losing by nine wickets to Mumbai Indians (MI). The defeat meant that CSK remain rock bottom in the IPL points table, with playoff hopes fading away. Auction main itne talented players, itne youngsters the. Kaha hai woh players? (I feel that CSK’s auction wasn’t good. There are so many youngsters and talents in the auction. Where are they?)” said Raina, speaking on Star Sports. CSK had entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with a purse of RS 55 crore. Noor Ahmad (Rs 10 crore) and R Ashwin (Rs 9.75 crore) were their two highest buys. However, Raina criticised the franchise for missing out on names like …

Zaheer, who scored 100 first class centuries in his career said that Babar needed to sit down and talk to his seniors. “I think either Babar has an ego issue or is too shy to seek advice from his seniors in overcoming his current situation,” Zaheer said. Zaheer said there were many instances where Pakistani and Indian players had sought advice from each other when going through a bad patch. “I think in 2016 Younis Khan spoke to Muhammad Azharuddin and went on to score a double hundred in England. I also recall how Azharuddin had sought guidance from me on India’s tour to Pakistan in 1989-90,” the batting artist said. “He was struggling to find runs and I told him to change his batting grip. Saeed Anwar sought Sunil Gavaskar’s advice.” He …
