Sachin Tendulkar calls for 3 radical changes in T20 rules, starting with scrapping the Impact Player rule

2 min readMay 31, 2026 04:25 PM IST A score of 200 has for the longest time been a show of strength in T20 cricket but this season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) it was extraordinarily proving to be a below par score on a number of occassions. While the ceiling for big-hitting has been steadily rising in recent years in the IPL, particularly since the introduction of the Impact Player rule, it has gone to unprecedented levels this year leading to calls for changes to be made to restore balance between bat and ball. India batting great Sachin Tendulkar has suggested three changes to be made to T20 cricket overall, starting with scrapping the Impact Player rule. “The Impact Player needs to go away. That is my personal opinion. I feel, in a T20 match, you just have to play 20 overs and then you are adding one more batter to that lineup where bowlers are already being challenged,” said Tendulkar at the Cricinfo Honours. It has to be noted that the Impact …

The Edappal RVSF will cater to the districts of Palakkad, Malappuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Idukki. Similar centres are planned for northern and southern Kerala in collaboration with Steel Industries Kerala Ltd (SILK). Mr. Ganesh Kumar said the project would help curb illegal and environmentally harmful vehicle scrapping practices in the State. Once operational, the Edappal facility will ensure that vehicle recycling in central Kerala is carried out scientifically and with full approval from Central and State government departments, he added. The ₹30-crore centre …

Google is scrapping its planned changes for third-party cookies in Chrome

Google’s plan to phase out third-party cookies in Chrome is officially over. In an update on Tuesday, Google Privacy Sandbox VP Anthony Chavez says the company has decided “to maintain our current approach to offering users third-party cookie choice in Chrome.” For years, critics have argued that Google’s Privacy Sandbox could harm advertisers and violate privacy laws, while the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) told users to opt out of the program, saying it “is still tracking your internet use for Google’s behavioral advertising.” Last week, a US judge found that Google “willfully engaged in a series of anticompetitive acts” in the advertising technology industry, and the competition regulator in the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), has been investigating its evolving series of proposals to address concerns that they might give Google an unfair advantage. “As we’ve engaged with the ecosystem, including publishers, developers, regulators, and the ads industry, it remains clear that there are divergent perspectives on making changes that could impact the availability of third-party cookies,” Chavez writes, adding that Google “will …

Delhi to get its first scrapping unit for end-of-life vehicles | Delhi News

Delhiites will no longer need to travel to neighbouring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to scrap their overage or end-of-life petrol and diesel vehicles, as the Capital is set to get its first authorised Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF), officials said on Thursday. On April 1, the Transport department gave approval to RVSF company EZWaste Recycling Private Limited — located in Mohan Co-operative Industrial Estate, Mathura Road, Southeast Delhi — to set up a scrapping unit in Delhi. It can operate until March 24, 2035. “Earlier, the Transport department had approved a list of RVSFs, some of which had their offices in Delhi. However, the scrap yards of these companies were located in other states, especially in NCR, like Ghaziabad and Meerut. This is going to be the first time such a unit will be established in Delhi,” said a department official. Bengaluru paying the price for scrapping steel flyover project, says Dy CM Shivakumar | Bangalore News

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Thursday that Bengaluru was now paying the price of traffic congestion for scrapping the steel bridge project, which had drawn objections over environmental concerns as well as corruption allegations. Shivakumar, who is also the Bengaluru development minister, was responding to a question raised in the Legislative Council by MLC Sudham Das on the steps taken to ease traffic in Bengaluru. “When K J George was the Bengaluru development minister, he planned a steel bridge on Bellary Road, but there was severe opposition. We are paying a price today for not executing that project,” he said, adding that as a result, the government was now exploring alternative solutions like tunnel roads, elevated corridors, and double-decker flyovers to tackle the congestion problem in the city. Story continues below this ad He added, “We have now planned two tunnel roads–a 17-km stretch from East to West and a 23- km stretch from North to South. We will be calling for tenders for the first phase soon,” he said. The …

T.N. government never sought scrapping of Madurai-Thoothukudi BG line, says Minister

T.N. government never sought scrapping of Madurai-Thoothukudi BG line, says Minister

Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar on Saturday denied Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s claim that the Madurai-Thoothukudi BG Line through Aruppukottai was dropped based on a written request from the State government. “It is a baseless claim. The State government never sent anything in writing against the project. Instead, it has always insisted on its implementation,” Mr. Sivasankar said in a statement. Mr. Vaishnaw, who was in Chennai on Friday, told mediapersons that the project had been dropped because the Tamil Nadu government had written to the Union government expressing its wish to scrap it. Mr. Sivasankar said Collectors of Madurai, Virudhunagar and Thoothukudi had been directed to acquire several hectares of land for the project. “The land acquisition process has been divided into two, and is progressing well. The government has already granted administrative sanction, and orders were issued on April 25, 2023, and September 22, 2023,” he said. The Minister recalled Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s letter to the Railways Minister on October 18, 2024, seeking funds for the Madurai-Thoothukudi and other projects. “This being the …

Chaos In J&K Assembly Over PDP MLA’s Resolution To Oppose Scrapping Of Article 370

Chaos In J&K Assembly Over PDP MLA’s Resolution To Oppose Scrapping Of Article 370

Srinagar: There was ruckus in the newly elected Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Monday morning – as it held its first sitting in six years – after People’s Democratic Party lawmaker Wahid Parra tabled an impromptu resolution against the scrapping of Article 370 in August 2019. Bharatiya Janata Party lawmakers opposed Mr Parra’s resolution, even as the Speaker, Rahim Rather of the ruling National Conference, said he had not admitted any resolution as yet. The BJP-led centre revoked Article 370 five years ago, in a contentious move marked by furious protests. This removed special status and split the former state into two union territories. The rolling back of this move had been among the key poll planks in the run-up to last month’s election – the first in J&K in a decade. However, a day after the NC’s victory was confirmed Chief Minister-elect Omar Abdullah admitted that expecting the BJP to restore Article 370 would be “foolish”. However, he also said this would not deter him or the NC from keeping the issue alive. “Our political …

Supreme Court dismisses pleas seeking review of verdict scrapping electoral bonds scheme latest updates – India TV

Image Source : PTI (FILE) Supreme Court. The Supreme Court today (October 5) has dismissed a batch of pleas seeking review of its February 15 verdict, which had scrapped the Modi government’s electoral bonds scheme of anonymous political funding. The top court also rejected the prayer for listing the review petitions in an open court. “Having perused the review petitions, there is no error apparent on the face of the record. No case for review under Order XLVII Rule 1 of the Supreme Court Rules 2013. The review petitions are, therefore, dismissed,” the bench said in its order dated September 25 that was uploaded today. The review plea filed by advocate Mathews J Nedumpara and others contended that the matter related to the scheme falls in the exclusive province of legislative and executive policy.   Source link
