After Dubai, Heathrow scraps 100ml liquid limit: Details inside

If you happen to be flying through London any time soon, you’re going to have a way smoother time doing the math on all the liquid gold you travel with. Yes, we’re referring to those niftily packed mini-bottles of skincare, makeup, perfume and anything else that has been met with stringent weight limitation over your years as a frequent flyer. After Dubai, Heathrow scraps 100ml liquid limit (Photo: BBC) What’s happening? As per a BBC report, London’s Heathrow Airport has now become the next major international hub to do away with the ancient 100ml liquid limit on hand luggage moving through security, updating the same to as much as 2 litres. What has prompted this is a complete airport-wide rollout of new high tech CT scanners. Liquids and electronic items can now smoothly move past security, doing away with the need to load them into clear plastic bags. One thing to keep in mind however is that this rule applies only to those flights departing from Heathrow with directions for passengers to check liquid limit …

Khurchan Laddoos, Made from Delicious Ghee Scraps

Khurchan Laddoos, Made from Delicious Ghee Scraps

Vatsala Pandey talks about the sweet byproduct that defined her childhood summers, a laddoo made from the milk solids left behind after making ghee. In many homes today, the rich scent of clarified butter bubbling on the stove is a memory, replaced by the convenience of a jar from the store. But in my family, the ritual of making ghee from homemade butter endures. And with it comes an unsung hero; a humble byproduct that holds the sweetest of secrets —khurchan. Khurchan is the term for the caramelized, nutty residue that settles at the bottom of the pan after the ghee has been strained. While a modern kitchen might discard it, to us, it is culinary treasure. As children, we would wait for the ghee-making to finish, knowing our reward was a small bowl of warm khurchan, mixed simply with a spoonful of sugar. It was a dessert of undiminished joy. This simple pleasure was a beloved ritual, particularly for my grandfather, for whom my grandmother would always set a portion aside. On a recent …

Andhra Pradesh govt scraps 15 per cent non-local quota in higher education admissions from 2025-26

Andhra Pradesh govt scraps 15 per cent non-local quota in higher education admissions from 2025-26

According to the government order, the southern state followed a common admission process, which also involved admitting students from Telangana under the non-local quota for 10 years after the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh. Amaravati: In a big policy shift, the Andhra Pradesh government has revised its admission rules for higher educational institutions, eliminating the existing 15% non-local quota. Starting from the academic year 2025-26, admission to various professional courses will be reserved exclusively for students from Andhra Pradesh. This move will effectively bar students from other states, including Telangana, from seeking admission under the non-local category. According to the new government orders, admissions to courses such as engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture, Pharma D, business administration, computer applications, law, education, and physical education will now be allotted solely to students who qualify as locals of Andhra Pradesh. However, specific categories — such as children of Central government employees — will still be considered under special provisions. What the govt order said?  “To protect the interests of the students hailing from the state of Andhra Pradesh, …

Snapchat scraps ‘simple’ redesign as it loses users in North America

Snapchat scraps ‘simple’ redesign as it loses users in North America

Snap is backing away from plans to simplify the design of Snapchat as it reports losing 1 million users in North America. As part of its Q1 2025 earnings report on Tuesday, Snap revealed that it’s instead going to start testing a “refined” layout that keeps the app’s five existing tabs. Snap is now reversing these plans after months of testing, seemingly after seeing reduced usage or user frustration. “Our‬‭ most‬‭ engaged‬‭ Snapchatters‬‭ consistently‬‭ demonstrated‬‭ a‬‭ preference‬‭ for‬‭ a‬‭ five-tab‬‭ layout, favoring‬ the‬‭ familiarity‬‭ of‬‭ tile-based‬‭ content‬‭ discovery‬‭ and‬‭ a‬‭ dedicated‬‭ Map‬‭ tab,” Snap writes in a letter to investors. In 2018, Snap’s stock sunk and users fled following a redesign aimed at keeping content from friends and brands separated. The newly revamped five-tab layout “combines the best of both approaches,” the company says, as it will bring more Stories to the messaging experience and make it easier to find Spotlight, which will appear directly to the right of the camera button. Snap doesn’t say how widely the redesign was rolled out or where it …

Trump Scraps US Office On Climate Diplomacy

Trump Scraps US Office On Climate Diplomacy

Washington: President Donald Trump’s administration has abolished the office that runs US climate diplomacy, potentially meaning the world’s largest economy will be a no-show at November’s COP30 summit in Brazil. The State Department confirmed Friday that its Office of Global Change, which was in charge of representing the United States in UN climate diplomacy, was being closed. “We will not participate in international agreements and initiatives that do not reflect our country’s values,” a State Department spokesperson said. “Consequently, this office — which supported the efforts of previous administrations to hobble the United States through participation in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other agreements purporting to limit or prevent climate change — is unnecessary.” The move was not a surprise as Trump is a climate skeptic and moved to pull the United States for the second time out of the landmark Paris climate accord immediately on returning to office on January 20. The climate office was among notable absences when Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday laid out a reorganization …
