Thudarum box office collection day 1: Mohanlal-Shobana starrer becomes second-biggest Malayalam opener of 2025 after Empuraan, earns Rs 5.5 crore | Malayalam News

Thudarum box office collection day 1: It is very rare that a superstar like Mohanlal’s film has a very lowkey release. It is even more rare to see it happen right after he delivers the biggest blockbuster of Malayalam cinema. But then, that is the way Malayalam cinema works, and it has bode well for Mohanlal’s latest release, Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy. Despite a lot of interesting aspects in the film, the makers decided to let the movie do all the talking, and that’s what Thudarum did by opening at a whopping Rs 5.5 crore on Day 1, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This is the second biggest opening for a Malayalam film this year after Prithviraj Sukumaran-Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan made Rs 18.6 crore on Day 1. Interestingly, this film, which faced multiple delays in release, has done better than the recent Vishu releases, including Mammootty’s Bazooka, the crowd-favourite Alappuzha Gymkhana, and the first hit of the year, Rekhachithram, which opened to Rs 3.2 crore, Rs 2.65 crore, and Rs 1.9 crore, respectively. Box Office: The King of Kings earns USD 2.1M on Angel Studios’ second-biggest Wednesday; crosses USD 25.5M in 6 days

Biblical animation The King of Kings is riding the Easter wave like none other, continuing its triumphant run at the US box office. The faith-based animated film grossed a strong USD 2.1 million on Wednesday, marking Angel Studios’ second-biggest Wednesday ever, trailing only Sound of Freedom’s USD 4 million haul. With a minimal drop of just 15.8 percent from Tuesday’s Discount Day business, the film now stands at a six-day cumulative total of USD 25.6 million. Released on April 11, 2025, as Angel Studios’ first animated endeavor, The King of Kings has emerged as a powerful religious release. Written and directed by Seong-ho Jang, the feature follows Charles Dickens as he attempts to perform A Christmas Carol for a theater audience. His performance is disrupted by his energetic son Walter, who is obsessed with King Arthur. To distract him, Dickens offers to tell a story about a king even greater than Arthur — Jesus Christ. Walter reluctantly agrees but quickly becomes engrossed in the tale. As the narrative unfolds, Walter imagines himself and his cat Will …

Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head reignite SRH’s old charm, Hyderabad chase second-biggest total in IPL history

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were phenomenal as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Punjab Kings by eight wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Abhishek smacked the highest score by an Indian in the IPL history. Abhishek Sharma and Tavis Head were the most feared duo in IPL 2024. However, in the IPL 2025, they failed to live up to the expectations and for the same season, Hyderabad lost four out of their five matches before hosting Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The visitors had a great time with the bat but all that will be remembered is Abhishek’s blistering century and Head’s calculative knock which helped Hyderabad win their second game of the season. Punjab batters were on song too, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh managed a cracking start, which was followed by captain Shreyas Iyer’s sensational knock of 82 runs off 36 deliveries. Towards the end, Marcus Stoinis played a perfect cameo of 34* runs off 11 deliveries and courtesy of that, the visitors posted 245 runs on the board in the …

Vettaiyan box office collection day 1: Rajinikanth-Amitabh Bachchan starrer takes second-biggest Tamil opening of 2024 after Vijay’s GOAT | Tamil News

Vettaiyan box office collection day 1: The coming together of two legendary stars, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, has resulted in fireworks at the box office. The Tamil action drama Vettaiyan had a solid start to its journey, delivering the second-best opening for a Tamil film this year, after Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Vettaiyan minted Rs 30 cr all-India nett on Thursday. The film performed best in Tamil Nadu, which alone contributed Rs 26 cr at the box office, followed by Telugu collections, which were a little over Rs 3 cr. The Hindi version of the film had no release in the national chains due to the OTT-window tussle that has been happening for a long time. This could prove to be detrimental to the film’s box office potential, as Amitabh Bachchan remains a major attraction. Vettaiyan’s collections are underwhelming in comparison with Rajinikanth’s last screen outing, Jailer, which smashed records last year. Jailer had opened at Rs 48 cr, with Tamil collections standing at Rs 37 cr– …
