News of his arrival had drawn a large crowd of supporters to the Jodhpur airport earlier in the day. After spending some time at the local ashram in Jodhpur, he visited AIIMS for a medical examination and later surrendered in the evening. The Jodhpur Bench of the High Court on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) dismissed Asaram’s appeal and revoked the interim bail, which was extended till July 7. At the time of the verdict, Asaram, who has been out on bail since October, was staying in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. “The case dates back to June 19, 2020, wherein the accused police officials of Santhankulam PS had wrongfully confined P Jeyraj. His son Benniks, who went to police station to enquire as to why his father was detained was also confined after some altercation,” a spokesperson of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which probed the case, said in a statement. A bench of Justices Sarang V Kotwal and Sandesh D Patil passed a ruling on appeal by the man against conviction by the special court designated under the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, argued through Advocates Yug Mohit Chaudhry and Payoshi Roy. The court also refused the state’s plea seeking confirmation of the death penalty for him.
