There was one thing, however, that would break the atmosphere. Siddharth would be lost in a problem set but singing as he studied. Suddenly, he would hum a line from a song. Then wait. His parents knew what was coming: they were expected to sing the next line. And they always did. Making Siddharth smile and go right back to work. A big fan of retro Bollywood music, especially from Dev Anand or Shammi Kapoor movies, this ritual was what gave Siddharth’s preparations just the right rhythm.
