Uddhav and Shinde-led Shiv Sena factions should come together: Bachchu Kadu

Maharashtra Legislative Council member and former minister Bachchu Kadu has called on the two rival Shiv Sena factions to consider reuniting, saying such a move would strengthen the party and benefit Maharashtra, reported the PTI. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Kadu made the appeal a day after both the Shiv Sena and the Shiv Sena (UBT) marked the party’s 60th foundation day separately. Kadu, who recently joined the faction led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and was elected to the Legislative Council, said senior leaders from both camps should make efforts towards reconciliation. According to Kadu, the focus should be on increasing the strength of the Shiv Sena rather than continuing internal divisions. “I feel that everyone should think about how the Shiv Sena’s strength can grow. Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde should leave some issues behind and work together,” he said, according to the PTI. ‘Upset with BJP’ over seat allocation, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena likely to part ways with it ahead of PMC polls | Pune News

Accusing the BJP of not allotting a respectful share of seats for the Shiv Sena in their pre-poll alliance, the Eknath Shinde-led party Tuesday said it is all set to part ways with the NDA partner ahead of elections to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadanavis had earlier announced that the party would contest elections in all 29 municipal corporations across the state in alliance with the Shiv Sena. For the Pune civic body, the BJP offered 16 of the 165 seats to the Shiv Sena, which the party’s local unit rejected. The polls are slated to be held on January 15, while the results will be declared on January 16. Expressing the party’s dissatisfaction, Sena leader Ajay Bhosale said, “We are upset with the BJP’s treatment. Our party is yet to take a decision on the alliance as this seat-sharing formula is unacceptable to us. We have given the official party document to 60 aspirants to contest the civic polls.” Echoing the sentiment, Sena’s city unit chief …

As the Maharashtra assembly elections approach, the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena is reportedly poised to nominate Milind Deora as its candidate to contest against Aaditya Thackeray in the Worli constituency. While the announcement is anticipated soon, it has not yet been officially confirmed. Milind Deora, a seasoned politician and current Rajya Sabha MP, brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as a three-time MP from South Mumbai. He played a significant role in the Worli constituency during the Lok Sabha elections, despite it being traditionally associated with the Thackeray family. In the last assembly election, Thackeray won with a slim margin of just 6,500 votes, indicating a potentially tight contest this time around. Lok Sabha polls 2024: Retaining Ramtek seat a challenge for Shinde-led Sena | Elections News

The growing sympathy for former Congress candidate Rashmi Barve after her nomination was declared invalid and the discontent among Shiv Sena cadre over fielding an ‘outsider’ as its candidate are posing as major challenges for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in Ramtek (SC) reserved constituency in Vidarbha region. Ramtek is the only seat being contested by Shinde-led Sena in the first phase of general elections on April 19. Ramtek is considered as a stronghold of Shiv Sena. However, within the Maha Vikas Aghadi, this constituency has gone to the Congress in the seat-sharing arrangement. Ramtek is also considered to be the second most important seat of Vidarbha after Nagpur. With the Returning Officer of Ramtek constituency declaring the nomination of Congress candidate Rashmi Barve as invalid, her husband Shyamkumar Barve became the official candidate of Congress. This has, however, created sympathy for Rashmi Barve and has become a challenge for Shinde’s Sena. Now, the contest between Congress’s Shyamkumar Barve and Shinde-led Shiv Sena’s candidate Raju Parwe has become a litmus test for Shinde-led Sena. …
