Prema Rawat replaces Shreyanka Patil in Indian squad

India has roped in Prema Rawat as the replacement for the injured Shreyanka Patil at the ongoing 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The replacement was approved by the Event Technical Committee of the World Cup late on Thursday. Patil, who had a breakthrough run in the 2026 Women’s Premier League earlier this year after a long injury layoff, picked up an ankle injury during India’s second group match against Netherlands on Wednesday. Bowling her first over of the match, which India would later go on to win comfortably, Patil rolled her ankle while fielding. She was then stretchered off the field and took no further part in the contest. Rawat, a leg spinner, will now join the Indian team. She is already in England as a part of the India ‘A’ tour and will link up with the squad. The 24-year-old Rawat is uncapped at the international level but has been on the rise in the recent past with her performances for Uttarakhand in the domestic circuit and for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in …

Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil starred to help RCB beat GG by 32 runs and maintain winning start in WPL 2026 Before Friday’s contest, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had relied heavily on individual brilliance to get them over the line in two contrasting wins. Nadine de Klerk’s rescue act against Mumbai Indians and Grace Harris’ blazing knock versus UP Warriorz had masked their middle-order fragility. Against Gujarat Giants (GG), however, it was time for that vulnerability to be tested and under pressure, they, along with Shreyanka Patil, delivered to help beat GG by 32 runs to maintain their winning start in Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Radha-Richa show At 43 for 4 in 5.3 overs, RCB were in deep trouble on a night when the top order faltered. The responsibility fell on Radha Yadav and Richa Ghosh to rebuild, and the pair responded with a decisive stand. that carried RCB to 182 for 7. Yadav, who has batted at number five this season, arrived with modest credentials – just 75 runs in her WPL career before …

On This Day: Royal Challengers Bengaluru win WPL, their first-ever title, defeat Delhi Capitals in 2024 final | Cricket News

With the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season wrapping up with Mumbai clinching the crown for the second time, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) couldn’t defend their crown, failing to even reach the play-offs this time around. But last year, the Smriti Mandhana-led side had created history by winning the WPL trophy which ended RCB’s title draught with the men’s team failing to win the IPL title in 17 IPL seasons. Last year on March 17, RCB had spun their way to a win against Delhi Capitals in the WPL final, ending a long wait for a fanbase that has made their voice heard loud and clear from south to north. DC could just manage 113 batting first, RCB took their time but eventually got there with three balls to spare, with Richa Ghosh hitting the winning runs, and fittingly, Ellyse Perry remaining unbeaten on 35. With Lanning and Marizanne Kapp still around, DC hoped for a fighting total. Given that 130-odd was defended a couple of nights ago at the venue, DC could …

WPL 2025: Richa Ghosh, Sneh Rana shine but it’s the hope that kills as RCB’s playoff bid ends | Cricket News

Batting on 61 off 29, in the middle of the 16th over, Richa Ghosh took count of the fielding changes, then took a couple of deep breaths, calming herself down. Next ball, as Chinelle Henry strayed down the leg side, Ghosh just casually flicked the ball, and deposited it over the fence. RCB’s hopes of staying alive depended on her capable shoulders carrying the load of a mega run-chase. Next over, however, when Deepti Sharma bowled one in her arc, her eyes lit up and she went for another big heave over midwicket. But, this time, Henry was waiting. In a tournament where their catching was forgettable for the most part, the West Indies allrounder grabbed the ball cleanly and fell on her back, arms spread across in joy – and relief. Even though Sneh Rana smashed the first five balls she faced for two fours and three sixes in a stunning cameo to give her side hope, RCB’s tournament effectively ended when Ghosh’s knock came to an end. UP Warriorz scored the highest Women’s …

Women’s Premier League: Shreyanka Patil ruled out of WPL 2025, as RCB suffer another massive blow | Cricket News

Royal Challengers Bengaluru were dealt another cruel injury blow for their Women’s Premier League season on Saturday as last year’s Purple Cap winner Shreyanka Patil was ruled out of the tournament. “Heartbroken, but I will fly again,” Shreyanka had posted on social media just before the team’s season-opener in Vadodara on Friday. A day later the league confirmed that she will miss the tournament. RCB, however, have managed to get a strong replacement as they picked the seasoned Sneh Rana who was a surprise non-recruitment during the mini action. Shreyanka, who has played 15 matches for RCB and has taken19 wickets, with 13 of those coming last year as she finished as the leading wicket-taker. With this news, RCB have now lost the three leading wicket-takers from the 2024 edition. Sophie Molineux and Asha Sobhana (with 12 wickets each) are also out of the third season due to injuries. Apart from their three main bowlers, RCB also lost the services of Sophie Devine in the offseason as the New Zealand superstar decided to take a …

Sneh Rana joins RCB as an injury replacement for Shreyanka Patil

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have suffered a setback in the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, with star spinner Shreyanka Patil ruled out due to injury. In response, the franchise has roped in experienced all-rounder Sneh Rana as her replacement for the remainder of the tournament. Shreyanka, who has been a key player for RCB, has played 15 matches and picked up 19 wickets. She won the Purple Cap in the previous edition of the WPL, taking four wickets in the final against Delhi Capitals. However, persistent injury concerns have now sidelined her. The 22-year-old dropped a cryptic post on Instagram yesterday, stating, “Heartbroken, but I will fly again,” hinting at her disappointment over missing the tournament. Sneh Rana, a seasoned all-rounder who previously played for Gujarat Giants, joins RCB for INR 30 lakh. Rana had gone unsold in the WPL auction last year after being released by the Giants but has now been brought in to bolster RCB’s depleted spin attack. Sources indicate that she has already been training with the team for the …

WPL 2025: Depleted RCB flex batting muscle, with helping hand(s) from Gujarat Giants | Cricket News

Even before a ball was bowled in the third season of the Women’s Premier League, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were dealt some major blows as they aimed to defend their title. Leading up to the tournament, they lost the services of Sophie Devine, Sophie Molineux and Asha Sobhana. Shreyanka Patil’s name was absent from the playing XI in the first game and she posted on social media: “Heartbroken, but I will fly again,” casting doubt over whether she can be fit for the season. Then, Ellyse Perry confirmed pre-match on Friday that she wouldn’t be bowling in the early part of the tournament at least because of a hip issue. That meant, from the 2024 WPL final, RCB lost all of their wicket-takers But their batting firepower was intact, and it helped them beat Gujarat Giants (GG) by six wickets in Vadodara with nine balls remaining, chasing 202, the record successful run-chase in WPL history.
