All-Round India Demolish England By 142 Runs To Complete 3-0 Clean Sweep In ODI Series

A robust batting show led by the Shubman Gill’s attractive century heralded India’s 142-run hammering of England in the third and final ODI as the hosts completed a dominant 3-0 clean sweep to culminate preparations for the Champions Trophy in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. India ticked all the remaining boxes with vice-captain Gill (112) following up his twin fifties earlier in the series with a seventh ODI ton of his career while middle-order mainstays Virat Kohli (52) and Shreyas Iyer (78) pushed India to a formidable 356 in the first half. Indian bowlers then took over the mantle to complete the England demolition job, bundling out the visitors for a mere 214 in 34.2 overs to complete a comprehensive victory – their second largest in ODIs in terms of runs against a familiar opponent. There was no change in the script for English, who came crashing down against spin after a sparkling start against pace, which was provided by the pair of Ben Duckett (34) and Phil Salt (24) in tow. The slowness of …

‘Never Going To Be As Good As A Top-Order Or Shubman Gill’: Sanjay Manjrekar On India Star

File photo of Shubman Gill.© AFP Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has criticised the Indian cricket team for its selection for the fourth Test vs Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Rohit Sharma and co. had dropped Shubman Gill for the game at MCG to make place for spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar. India went on to suffer a 184-run defeat in the game as the batters failed to even take the game to a draw. Disappointed with the result, Majrekar pointed out that India shouldn’t have dropped Gill. “You tried to address the batting uncertainties by getting a bowler who can bat. Nitish Kumar Reddy in the side at the expense of Shubman Gill or maybe Washy (Washinton Sudar at the expense of Gill). So, they left out a proper batter and in hindsight, you’d think on a pitch like this, the flattest pitch on all five days so far in the series, Shubman Gill would have been handy,” Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo. While Nitish scored a historic century in India’s first innings, Washington …

It will be a big relief for the Indian team management as they are already grappling with the possible absence of injured Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma, who has been blessed with his second baby. Rahul had left the field for medical attention on Friday after sustaining a blow on his elbow by pacer Prasidh Krishna while batting in an intra-squad practice match at the WACA ground. But on Sunday, the 32-year-old batted without any major discomfort and participated in all the drills during the three-hour net session and batted for a considerable time as well. “I took him for the x-ray and everything. Based upon the reporting I was a lot more confident that he should be fine. So from medical point of view, he is absolutely fine,” said India physiotherapist Yogesh Parmar in a …

Shubman Gill during IPL 2024 match vs CSK.© BCCI Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill hailed the performance from the Chennai Super Kings and acknowledged that they got “outplayed” at Chepauk and let themselves down with their batting following their 63-run defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ruturaj Gaiwkad’s captaincy reign saw CSK win their second consecutive game as they pulled off a near flawless performance against GT on a surface that is known to be a bit unpredictable. The young opening batter Rachin Ravindra got CSK to a robust start, while Shivam Dube provided the much-needed firepower through the middle overs and in the final four to power CSK to a massive total. While defending the total, each bowler chipped in with their precise line and length to fend off GT from chasing the total. After the game, Gill conceded that they were outplayed by CSK’s batting performance and lauded their execution with the ball. “They outplayed us when they were batting and when they bowled, their execution was spot on. Shubman Gill Fears His Father Will “Pull Him Up” Despite Ton Against England. Here’s Why

Shubman Gill was the star of play on the third day of the ongoing second Test match between India and England in Visakhapatnam. Struggling to score runs in the format, the right-handed batter kicked away all his worries with a well-knit 104 off 147 balls. He joined hands with Shreyas Iyer to take India out of trouble in their second innings. The hosts were reeling at 30 for 2 but Gill along with Iyer stitched an 81-run stand to keep the side on top. While Iyer departed, Gill took his innings deep and scored a century. While a lot of former cricketers are praising him for the knock he played under pressure, Gill fears that his father might “pull him up” for the way he was dismissed. Gill tried to play a reverse sweep on the bowling of England spinner Shoaib Bashir. He failed to execute the shot properly but the ball grazed his glove before wicketkeeper Ben Foakes took a sharp catch. While talking about the dismissal with former India head coach …

With nine wickets in hand, England need 332 runs to go two up in the series. “I think it’s 70-30 at the moment. The morning session will be key. We’ve seen there is moisture in the morning and help for fast bowlers and spinners,” Gill said after the end of Day 3. During his time on the crease, the 24-year-old took the onus of scoring the majority of the runs while Patel played the anchor role, steering the flow of the game and rotating strike on every available opportunity. With simplicity in his approach, Shubman used his feet to get runs on the board and raised his bat for his third Test …
