Mohammed Siraj Loses Cool After GT Star’s Blunder. Ravi Shastri’s Reaction Adds To Drama

Mohammed Siraj Loses Cool After GT Star’s Blunder. Ravi Shastri’s Reaction Adds To Drama

Mohammed Siraj lost his cool at his Gujarat Titans (GT) teammate R Sai Kishore during their final group game of IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday. The incident happened on the penultimate ball of the fifth over of CSK’s innings. CSK batter Urvil Patel pushed Siraj’s delivery towards mid-off and pushed for a single. While he comfortably completed the run, GT captain Shubman Gill decided to have a go at the stumps. Gill affected a direct hit, but the ball went for an overthrow after deflecting with the stumps. It got even worse for GT after Kishore sprinted from the square-leg region and slid to collect the ball at midwicket. He mistakenly pushed the ball away for a single, allowing the CSK batters to steal another run, making it three runs off the ball. Cameras caught Siraj hurling a mouthfall at Kishore and even smashed the ball on the ground. In the end, he had to be consoled by Gill, whose mistake sparked the entire episode. Reacting to Siraj’s meltdown, former …

Shubman Gill Makes Big Claim On Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli’s Retirements: “Know How To…”

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had “very contrasting styles” of leadership but the two iconic players along with spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have given the Indian team the “blueprint to win” Test series away from home, says new skipper Shubman Gill, who was on Saturday appointed India’s captain in Tests. The first assignment for the 25-year-old is a five-Test series England where he won’t have stalwarts like Kohli and Rohit in the line-up. “(The) guys like Rohit bhai, Virat bhai and Ashwin bhai… they have given us a blueprint on how to tour away from home and win matches and series,” Gill said in a video released by the BCCI on Sunday. “Yes, it’s one thing to be able to deliver and execute, but because we have that blueprint, we know how to tour away from home and win matches and series,” he added. Gill said while Kohli and Rohit had contrasting styles of leadership, they were also quite similar in style. “When I was a kid, I was always inspired by the great and …

“Hard Pill To Swallow”: Shubman Gill As Gujarat Titans Miss Chance To Finish In Top Two

Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill admitted that the game slipped away early as his side suffered a heavy 83-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Chasing a daunting 231-run target, GT were bundled out for just 147. Speaking after the match, Gill pointed to a disastrous powerplay as the turning point. “The game pretty much went away from us in the powerplay. We never really came back in the game; 230 is a big target,” he said, as quoted from ESPNcricinfo. The Titans looked out of sorts with both bat and ball. Their bowlers failed to contain a rampant CSK top order. Gill emphasized the need for composure, especially when playing against teams with nothing to lose. “Teams that are already eliminated don’t have anything to lose. We were not able to stay calm under pressure,” he noted. He also highlighted GT’s inability to stem the flow of runs and pick up wickets in the middle overs. “It’s very important to control runs in the …

Shubman Gill’s 1st Reaction After Becoming India Test Captain: “As A Young Kid…”

India’s newly-appointed Test captain Shubman Gill opened up about the opportunity and called it a huge honour. Gill was appointed captain for the upcoming Test series against England with Rishabh Pant becoming his deputy. Gill, who has played as an opener as well as No. 3 for the Indian cricket team in the format, will succeed Rohit as the India captain. Gill said that it was his dream as a young kid to captain India in Tests one day and added that it will be a massive responsibility for him. “As a young kid, when anyone starts playing cricket, they want to play for India. Not just play for India, but play Test cricket for India for a very long time. To be able to get this opportunity is a great honour and like you said, it’s a big responsibility,” Gill said in a short video posted by the BCCI. Earlier, Ajit Agarkar explained the reason behind Gill’s appointment as Test captain. “We discussed every option that’s there, over the last year or …

BCCI Consulted Rahul Dravid For Feedback On Shubman Gill Becoming Captain. India Legend’s Response Was…

Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new captain of Team India in Test cricket, marking him as a leading figure in the transition of eras in Indian cricket. Gill is set to become the fifth-youngest player to lead India in Test matches, at the age of 25 years and 285 days old, should he lead them in the first Test against England from June 20. Now, it has emerged that legendary Indian cricketer and former India head coach Rahul Dravid was consulted by the selectors before Gill was appointed captain. Dravid has been Gill’s coach at both junior and senior levels. Dravid was the coach of the India U19 team that won the 2018 Under-19 World Cup, which Gill was a part of. Dravid’s term as India’s head coach, between 2021 and 2024, saw Gill emerge into prominence as one of the nation’s leading batters across formats. Therefore, given his role in the rise of Gill, Dravid was reportedly consulted by the selectors regarding the choice of handing the Test captaincy to …

Shubman Gill’s Credentials Doubted, Overseas Numbers “Not Healthy As Batter, Let Alone As Captain”

Shubman Gill era has begun in Indian cricket. The 25-year-old star was named the captain of the Indian cricket squad for the Tour of England starting June 20. At 25, Gill has become one of the youngest players to hold the position in recent years. Though he lacks captaincy experience in the red-ball format, he has led India in a five-match T20I assignment in Zimbabwe in 2024. Gill has also been captaining the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gill has also served as vice-captain in ODIs and T20Is. He was Rohit Sharma‘s deputy in India’s victorious Champions Trophy campaign in the UAE in February 2025. In Test cricket, Gill has played 32 matches and scored 1,893 runs, including five centuries. Former India opener Aakash Chopra has called Shubman Gill as India Test captain as a ‘investment of faith’. “Lots (of challenges) actually in Test cricket. If it were ODI format, we would have said absolutely fine. He is the heir apparent. He is annointed as the vice captain for a …

“Captaincy Decision From India Is…”: England Great On Shubman Gill’s Appointment

Former England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan believes Shubman Gill being appointed as India’s new Test captain is a correct decision, saying that the right-handed batter is a natural leader who isn’t afraid of methodologies behind various decisions. On Saturday, chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced Gill’s appointment as India’s 37th Test captain, and his first assignment in the role will be a five-match tour of England, starting on June 20. Morgan had shared the dressing room with Gill when the duo were together in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ for IPL 2020 and 2021 seasons. “The captaincy decision from India is the right one. I played alongside Gill for two seasons at Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and he is a natural leader. He doesn’t mind questioning methodology,” said Morgan on Sky Sports Cricket ahead of day three’s play in the England-Zimbabwe Test at Trent Bridge. In terms of batting, India have handed a return to Karun Nair, while giving a maiden call-up to B Sai Sudharsan. But Morgan, who captained England to 2019 …

India’s Full Squad vs England: Who’s In, Who’s Out, New Faces, Comebacks

Batting star Shubman Gill was on Saturday handed India’s Test leadership to steer through a “massive transition” phase starting with next month’s tour of England that will be nothing short of a trial by fire for the relatively inexperienced 18-member squad announced. At 25 years of age, Gill will be India’s fifth youngest Test captain after Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (21), Sachin Tendulkar (23), Kapil Dev (24) and Ravi Shastri (25). He will have the swashbuckling but erratic Rishabh Pant as his deputy for the five-match series that will begin on June 20 in Leeds. “Last year or so we have looked at Shubman (for leadership). We are hopeful he is the guy who is going (to take the team forward). It is a high pressure job but he is a terrific player,” said chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar after announcing the squad, which offered no major surprises. Gill has appeared in 32 Tests so far and averages a rather modest 35 for his 1893 runs with five hundreds and seven fifties at …

Batting star Shubman Gill was on Saturday entrusted with India’s Test leadership to steer through a “massive transition” phase with the swashbuckling Rishabh Pant as his deputy for next month’s tour of England that is expected to be nothing short of a trial by fire. At 25 years of age, Gill will be India’s fourth youngest Test captain after Sachin Tendulkar (23), Kapil Dev (24) and Ravi Shastri (25). The five-match series against England will begin on June 20 in Leeds. “Last year or so we have looked at Shubman (for leadership). We are hopeful he is the guy who is going (to take the team forward). It is a high pressure job but he is a terrific player. We wish him all the best,” said chief selector Ajit Agarkar after announcing the squad, which offered no major surprises. “Pant is one of our best batters in Test cricket over the last four-five years. A wicketkeeper can see the game well and that’s why he is Shubman’s deputy,” Agarkar added while explaining the …
