The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Chhattisgarh has filed a charge sheet against nine individuals allegedly linked to a Maoist “urban network” in a special court in Bilaspur, a public prosecutor said on Wednesday. The accused are natives of Bijapur, Narayanpur and other places, public prosecutor Dauram Chandravanshi said. The case originated from a crackdown that began on September 25 last year, when the SIA arrested Jaggu Kursam, a Maoist divisional committee member, and his wife Kamla Kursam, an area committee member, in Raipur. Their interrogation led to the arrest of seven more suspects from various parts of the state, including Korba, Bilaspur, Narayanpur, and Bijapur. The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) Friday carried out raids in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts as part of its investigations into the “white collar” terror module, officials said. The early morning raids were carried out by the SIA in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts in central Kashmir, including at the residence of Tufail Bhat at Diyarwani area of Batamaloo locality of the city here, they said. The Jammu & Kashmir State Investigation agency filed a supplementary charge-sheet on Friday against two terrorists involved in multiple attacks in the state`s Rajouri district, reported news agency PTI. It was filed in a special court in Jammu, they said. The charge-sheet names Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Mohd Qasim alias “Salman” alias “Waseem”, who exfiltrated to Pakistan for arms training in 1990, and Talib Hussain Shah, who was previously arrested with sophisticated weapons in Reasi district, a spokesman of the agency said. The case involves their participation in acts of terrorism, including killings, a grenade attack and planting IEDs in busy areas, he said and added that their actions caused significant damage to government properties. Shah, a resident of Rajouri, and his associate Faisal Ahmad Dar from Pulwama were apprehended by villagers in Reasi district in July 2022 and handed over to police, the officials said. The Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency has filed a fourth supplementary charge sheet against six accused, including three Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen militants, in a case relating to terror funding, an official said on Friday. Newswire PTI reported that with the filing of the fresh charge sheet in a special court in Jammu, the number of accused in the case has gone up to 18. The accused includes policeman Saif Din who was arrested in December last year. The alleged cross-border terror syndicate was busted by the SIA in April 2022 following its investigation into a Hawala case involving former minister and chairman of Nature-Mankind Friendly Party Jatinder Singh who was subsequently arrested and chargesheeted along with 11 others.
