Average apartment sizes up 17 per cent in top seven cities in two years
Indian homebuyers are increasingly opting for larger living spaces, with average flat sizes across the top seven cities rising by 17 per cent in just two years, according to the latest research by ANAROCK Property Consultants. The data shows that the average apartment size in these key urban centres increased from 1,420 square feet (ft) in 2023 to approximately 1,676 sq ft in 2025. The momentum continued over the past year, with an 8 per cent rise from around 1,540 sq ft in 2024. Anuj Puri, the chairman of ANAROCK Group, attributed the shift to evolving buyer preferences in the post-Covid period. “Large 3-4BHK homes and units with additional study rooms have now become mainstream in many of the top seven cities.
