SRH skipper Pat Cummins explains why T20 format’s slam-bang nature is liberating as a bowler | Ipl News

3 min readMar 26, 2026 03:56 PM IST Over the last few years as team totals of 200+ runs have become more commonplace in T20 cricket, the balance of the game has tipped in favour of batters. This contrast between bat and ball is also very stark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where last season Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showed the devastation their batting order can wreak with multiple heavy-hitters like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan in their ranks. But for Pat Cummins, the charge of T20 cricket towards being a batsman’s game has had a liberating effect. “You just have to reset your expectations (as a bowler and as a captain). Going for eight runs an over used to be considered quite high. Now, if you bowl at the start and the end of the innings and you only go for 11 runs an over, that can be match-winning. You just have to reset those expectations within the playing group,” Cummins said in a conversation with the Business of Sport …

‘He was away from the wicket and I was just looking for the ball’: Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Salman Ali Agha run out row | Cricket News

3 min readMar 13, 2026 11:33 PM IST Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz created a firestorm of controversy with his dismissal of Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha during the 2nd ODI on Friday. The incident happened happened during the 4th ball of the 39th over when Miraz was bowling to Mohammad Rizwan who played the ball back towards the right of the bowler which he stopped with his boot. Meanwhile, Agha, who was on the non striker’s end, was out of his crease and in Miraz’s way with both players in close proximity. Agha then bento down to pick the ball and hand it back to the bowler but Miraz swooped in himself and in an under-armed throw knocked the bails off with Agha still outside the crease. The decision was sent upstairs and the third umpire ruled it as a dismissal much to the chagrin of Agha who had a few words with Miraz and then left the field clearly unhappy. After the match, Miraz reacted to the dismissal. “He was away from the wicket …

‘Not a big thing’: J&K skipper Paras Dogra after headbutt incident with Karnataka’s KV Aneesh in Ranji Trophy final | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 25, 2026 10:16 PM IST Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra on Wednesday had a flare-up with Karnataka substitute fielder KV Aneesh where he headbutted the latter in the heat of the moment during Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final. However, after stumps, Dogra downplayed the incident, saying it wasn’t a big thing. “Very good, to be honest. We are in a good position. That’s what matters for me. All that keeps happening and especially when you are playing a final or something (like that), a bit of it happens. It was just in a little heat of the moment. Not a big thing. Yeah, it is all settled now. That’s (a hot day) a different thing and it was momentary. We started talking and chatting after that so it’s all well,” Dogra said to reporters. In the match, Dogra made a gutsy 70 as Jammu and Kashmir reached 527 for 6 at stumps on the second day of the Ranji Trophy final. Dogra along with keeper batter Kanhaiya Wadhawan (70), …

Bugti said he has sent his resignation to the patron-in-chief of the federation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “I have sent my resignation letter to the PM but I urge him and Field Marshal Asim Munir to conduct an impartial inquiry into the whole situation which took place in Austrlaia during the FIH Pro League hockey,” he said. Bugti said that one of his final acts as President was “to impose a two-year ban on the national team captain Ammad Shakeel Butt from domestic and international hockey for bringing Pakistan hockey into disrepute.” Butt had lambasted the PHF in Lahore on Wednesday, stating that players were forced “to clean the kitchen and wash dishes” before going …

Skipper Rohit Paudel emotional as Nepal end 12-year wait for T20 World Cup win

4 min readMumbaiFeb 18, 2026 12:14 AM IST Nepal captain Rohit Paudel on Tuesday said the thrilling win over Scotland in their final T20 World Cup match, their first win in 12 years in the tournament, “means a lot” for himself and the Himalayan nation. Nepal rode on Kushal Bhurtel’s early fireworks and Dipendra Singh Airee’s (50 not out off 23 balls) unbeaten fifty to end their 12-year-long winless run in T20 World Cup with a seven-wicket triumph against Scotland in an inconsequential Group C match. “This means a lot to me, my second World Cup as captain, and winning first game in last game of league stage was very important to us as a team. Dipendra led the way,” Paudel said at the post-match presentation. Nepal lost by a narrow four-run margin against heavyweights England in their tournament opener, and after that they lost the plot before gaining their ground on Tuesday. Paudel thanked the die-hard Nepalese fans for backing them in their tough times. “After our game against England, they started booking tickets …

T20 World Cup: India captain Suryakumar Yadav forgoes handshake with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 15, 2026 07:14 PM IST As reported by the Indian Express, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistan counterpart Salman Ali Agha at the toss on Sunday in the T20 World Cup Group A encounter at Colombo on Sunday. This no handshake policy has been the status quo since the Asia Cup where India players refused to shake Pakistan players’ hands in all the three matches they played in that tournament. After the Pahalgam terror attacks, India launched Operation Sindoor against terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in May, following which both countries launching retaliatory strikes at each other for three days before suspension of hostilities. Post ‘Operation Sindoor’, tensions between the two neighbours have not eased since last May’s hostilities. Pakistan had earlier announced a boycott of the India game in response to Bangladesh being ousted from the T20 World Cup, but backtracked on it, last week. The (non) handshake incident had become a talking point during the entire Asia Cup last year, and monopolised all discussions …

Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha defends action of off-spinner Usman Tariq ahead of T20 WC | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 6, 2026 06:17 PM IST Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup starting tomorrow, Pakistan’s skipper Salman Ali Agha defended the action of off-spinner Usman Tariq who has been in the news for his unorthodox bowling action. He called him the team’s ‘X factor’. “I don’t understand why we are talking about his action because in my opinion it is a fair action,” Salman told reporters. “He has been tested twice and he has been cleared. I think there is no problem in his action. Yes, he is the X factor of the team, and where we feel that we need an X factor, we will definitely use him.” Tariq, who has played three T20 Internationals since his debut against South Africa in November, has been reported twice for a suspected bowling action in the Pakistan Super League. The off-spinner has a very unorthodox action with him pausing near the crease before firing the ball with a side-arm sling shot action. The 28-year-old claimed two wickets in his second T20 International, against …

Pakistan skipper Salman Agha IND-PAK tensions

Pakistan skipper Salman Agha IND-PAK tensions

“We are not hurt. But it is not good for the game,” this was Pakistan captain Salman Agha’s response when asked about the recent tensions between his team and India in the past two big events. Last year India had refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy and six months later when they faced off in the Asia Cup in the UAE, Suryakumar & Co had refused to shake hands with Pakistan players. The three matches that they contested in the Asia Cup saw a tense atmosphere in the middle and in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan’s government has already taken a stand to not take the field against India on February 15 at Colombo. Given the tensions, all the talk in the build up to the fixtures have been mostly around the off-field tensions. And speaking specifically on the handshake episode, Agha said, “We are not hurt. But it is not good for the game. I can say that with my chest open. Growing up as kids, we have all looked …

‘Our flight is booked and we are going to Colombo’: India skipper Suryakumar Yadav on travelling to Sri Lanka despite Pakistan’s boycott call | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 5, 2026 05:23 PM IST India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said that despite Pakistan announcing the boycott of the India match at the T20 World Cup, the Men in Blue will still be travelling to Colombo. The two arch-rivals are scheduled to face off in a group stage match in Sri Lanka on February 15 but the Pakistan government have urged its team to not take part in the India match in response to Bangladesh’s ouster from the competition after refusing to travel to India citing security concerns. “I feel their decision is not in my control. I wish I could take their decisions call but it is their call. We had played in the Asia Cup as well and we played them three times. Our mindset is pretty clear. We have not said no (to playing against Pakistan). They have. ICC has given the fixture. Our flight is booked and we are going there (to Colombo). The team discussion is that we are playing first on February 7, then we will go …

Rohit Sharma opens up about taking tough calls as skipper, cites example of how he and Rahul Dravid told Shreyas Iyer about exclusion from 2022 Asia Cup, T20 WC | Cricket News

It isn’t a long while ago that Rohit Sharma was the Indian skipper for all three formats, leading the team in competitions like the Asia Cup, T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. Now, having retired from T20Is and Tests, the former India skipper looked back at some of the tough calls he had to make during his tenure as captain. Talking to JioHotstar’s ‘Captain Rohit Sharma’s Roadmap for T20 World Cup’ show, Rohit opened up about the time where he and then-coach Rahul Dravid had to tell Shreyas Iyer that he would not be a part of the 2022 Asia Cup as well as the 2022 T20 World Cup squad in Australia. Both tournaments did not go well from India’s point of view with the Men in Blue failing to reach the final on both occasions. “There have been many such instances of taking hard calls before World Cups. I think of Shreyas Iyer during the 2022 T20 World Cup. I still remember that we were playing in the West Indies. Rahul bhai and …
