‘Were speaking about India for months’: Temba Bavuma reveals South Africa’s meticulous preparations ahead of historic Test series win | Cricket News

South Africa reaffirmed their status as world champions in Test cricket by doing something that is regarded by many as one of the most difficult challenges in the sport – defeat India in a a series in India. South Africa ended up whitewashing India 2-0 in the series and captain Temba Bavuma said that he had spoken about it with head coach Shukri Conrad for months on end leading up to it. “We have always wanted to prepare ourselves for these types of encounters. Between the two of us, there were months on end speaking about India. What type of team and players did we want? And what did we need to do to be successful? It wasn’t a case of getting to India and saying, “Okay, how are we going to do things?” The seed was planted long before the Test series,” said Bavuma in his column for ESPNCricinfo. South Africa ‘better poised’ for India Tests with spin battery, says captain Temba Bavuma; ‘A massive opportunity’ | Cricket News

Test series between India in South Africa have been dominated by the hosts more often than not. India have never managed to beat South Africa in the latter’s home, with their best results being two drawn series in 2010/11 and in the last series played between the two sides in 2023/24. South Africa, meanwhile have managed to win once (1999/00) and draw twice (2007/08, 2009/10) in India but have not won a single Test match in the country since February 2010. Captain Temba Bavuma has said that while the task remains difficult, his side may be better poised to take India on at their home due to the quality spinners they have in their squad. The two-Test series between India and South Africa starts on November 14 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The second match will be played from November 22 in Guwahati. The experienced Keshav Maharaj will be part of the touring party, alongwith Senuran Muthuswamy and Simon Harmer. They also have a part-time spinner in Tristan Stubbs. “Bowling has always been a …

Women’s World Cup Final – ‘Lot of pressure on India’: South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt lays down the gauntlet | Cricket News

South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has said that a capacity Indian crowd at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai could end up adding more pressure on the home team in the World Cup final on Sunday. South Africa, who like Australia had beaten India in the group stages, are also looking to be first-time winners of the Women’s World Cup. “It’s going to be a very exciting opportunity but at the same time I think it puts a lot of pressure on them as well. They have the whole country behind them and are sort of expected to win. I guess so. Yeah, I think it sort of plays in our favour hopefully. We’re very excited for the game. They’re a very good side. We’re going to have to play some really good cricket to beat them, but we’re really excited for the opportunity,” said Wolvaardt in the press conference ahead of the final. South Africa has enjoyed a superior head to head over India in World Cup cricket, with the home team yet …
