The incident took place late on Thursday, March 19, when a speedboat carrying at least seven people, including Singh and industrialist Gautam Singhania, capsized near Felidhoo island. When contacted Simar Kaur, wife of Hari Singh, she refused to comment. According to reports, the boat overturned roughly two nautical miles southwest of Keyodhoo. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Singhania, chairman and managing director of the Raymond Group, sustained injuries in the mishap but was rescued and later brought back to Mumbai. He is currently recovering. However, Singh and at least one other person remain untraceable, with search efforts continuing. The Maldives National Defence Force’s Male Area Command Coast Guard Second Squadron has been deployed for the rescue operation. Naval Personnel Among 13 Killed As Navy Speedboat Collides With Ferry Near Mumbai

Navy speedboat just before it collided with the ferry off Mumbai coast Mumbai: An Indian Navy speedboat that was undergoing engine trials lost control and collided with a passenger ferry off the Mumbai coast today. The navy in a statement said 13 people including a naval officer and two people from the original equipment manufacturer were killed in the accident. A video of the accident was captured on camera from the ferry which was carrying 110 people. The navy craft was carrying five people. Ten ferry passengers were killed, while the remaining 102 including the two survivors from the navy craft were rescued.  “At about 1600 hours (4 pm), a navy craft undergoing engine trials lost control and collided with a passenger ferry, Neel Kamal, off Karanja, Mumbai. The ferry was carrying passengers from Gateway of India to Elephanta Island,” the navy said in a statement. Mumbai Boat Accident LIVE Updates: Thirteen persons died and 101 others were rescued after a Navy speed boat crashed into a ferry off the Mumbai coast on Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said. The dead include 10 civilians and three Navy personnel, Fadnavis told reporters at Nagpur. As per the information from Navy, the death toll till 7.30 pm is 13, he added. The Neelkamal ferry was on way to Elephanta Islands, a popular tourist destination near Mumbai, when the speed boat crashed into it around 4 pm, Fadnavis said. He did not specify how many persons were on board the ferry and the speed boat. The Navy and Coast Guard launched a massive rescue operation, with 11 Navy boats and three boats of Marine Police and a boat of Coast Guard being deployed in the area, a defence official said.
